Cleveland Browns 2021 Regular Season: RIP

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think "hometown team" isn't the main motiviation here. It's nice when Lebron roots for Ohio teams, but that's not what motivates him. Lebron has a history of picking the favorite. He wants to root for winners. It's cool that he considers the Browns to be winners, sure, but for me, he's just another LA voice watching occasionally from far away.

He started rooting for the Browns when he was first here, did a commercial with them and everything, That was over 10 years ago, and by no means were the Browns "winners" back then.

He just got to know the players being a professional athlete in town, got to go to the sideline some game and became a fan. People are just assholes about this one, he was a poor kid with a crack whore mom growing up and rooted for "America's" team, he needed to root for a winner because his life at that time was so bad. Once he got older and life was great, he started rooting for his hometown teams, Indians, Browns and OSU, not a huge deal,

Honestly I really dont care who Lebron roots for, it has zero affect on my life, and I still like the guy.

It's important to remember that Lebron grew up without a father.

When you think of your own fandom, I would venture to say that for most sports fans and for most of you on this forum, your Dad was a big part of picking up, playing, and following sports and particular sports franchises.

Lebron didn't have that - he was athletically gifted but he probably didn't have anybody close telling him, as a pre-teen or teenager, that the Browns/Cavs/Tribe were Akron's team. Instead, Lebron probably gravitated to the teams that were most popular, on TV the most, and won championships during those years - and that would be the 90s Yankees and the 90s Cowboys.

So, as with most things, it's complicated and not as simple as "Lebron's just a front-runner..."

Funny thing is…LeBron’s father was a huge Cowboys/Browns fan.

There are some recent studies that being a Browns fan has some genetics to it. High comorbidity with general anxiety disorder, OCD and depression.

Cowboy fan bigh comorbidity with GDS. General Douche Syndrome.

Link did not work.

I honestly just don’t give a shit, let the dude root/front run/whatever for whichever team he chooses.

Browns are 2-1 (and should probably be 3-0) and are positioning themselves for their best season since Bernie Kosar was under center - and for the first time since Patrick Mahomes became a full time starter, the AFC looks wide open.

To my knowledge, none of that hinges on whether or not LeBron is “down” with the Browns.

I don’t care about LeBron and wish we would stop talking about him and discussed the browns more

we’ve got a chance to move to 3-1 on the road and most of the posts today, this one included, are about LeBron

LeBron and 3-1 in same post...I see what you did there.

Interesting stuff from opposing teams fans on the Browns, particularly Baker.

The common saying is this: "Stop Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt to force Baker to pass. He will make mistakes." A lot of Bears fans did it and because they have a good run defense, expected a bunch of Baker interceptions. Now I see plenty of Vikings fans saying the same thing (Texans fans expected to get blown out, and Chiefs fans thought they'd run us over).

Now I'm perfectly fine knowing that it'll be awhile before Baker sheds his reputation of being an interception machine. And as long as he isn't putting up big 350+ yard 4 TD games that casual fans drool over then he may always have that rep. It just makes me feel good that he has grown as much as he has and seems to be underestimated. I also feel like that perspective is kinda shared throughout the league, since often times we see opponents very early in the game stacking the box and collapsing hard trying their hardest to stop CHUNT and dare Baker to beat them.

Maybe that's why we see Stefanski passing more in the beginning sometimes, softening them up and then unleashing CHUNT.

With our offense you almost have to pick your poison. Focusing on stopping the run game and hoping Baker has a bad game seems like the logical way to go because if Chubb and Hunt get rolling early you're pretty much toast.
