I think "hometown team" isn't the main motiviation here. It's nice when Lebron roots for Ohio teams, but that's not what motivates him. Lebron has a history of picking the favorite. He wants to root for winners. It's cool that he considers the Browns to be winners, sure, but for me, he's just another LA voice watching occasionally from far away.
He started rooting for the Browns when he was first here, did a commercial with them and everything, That was over 10 years ago, and by no means were the Browns "winners" back then.
He just got to know the players being a professional athlete in town, got to go to the sideline some game and became a fan. People are just assholes about this one, he was a poor kid with a crack whore mom growing up and rooted for "America's" team, he needed to root for a winner because his life at that time was so bad. Once he got older and life was great, he started rooting for his hometown teams, Indians, Browns and OSU, not a huge deal,
Honestly I really dont care who Lebron roots for, it has zero affect on my life, and I still like the guy.
