soooo in any case.

On friday i was on a work telecom with a pats fan, a ravens fan, me and another browns fan

The pats fan was giving the ravens fan shit about not making the playoffs and asks "where did you guys even end up in the division?"
The ravens fan "i dont even know"
me "i believe that was DEAD LAST"

chaos ensued. it was great
Well after last night the pats fan has a choice of multiple assholes to eject shit from.

oh the shit talking never ends within this group, Its great. that pats fan is going to be talking red sox on tuesday (he doesnt like the NBA), and the cycle will restart.

The Stoolers-Chiefs game featured three upcoming UFAs I’d really like to see the Browns make a run at.

James Washington, who I think Pittsburgh undervalues greatly. He’s short, but an absolute 50/50 ball machine.

Byron Pringle, who KC shouldn’t let leave. Ridiculous athlete, ridiculous speed.

And Demarcus Robinson, who always shows up when he’s healthy and available. Take your top off kind of guy.

None of the three would be major AAV guys, and you’d be hoping that with an increased role they’d blossom.

Those 7th seed games were awful. Really bad. About all they accomplished was to show the two PA teams were completely unworthy of the playoffs. Both games had the feeling of a mismatched college football game. Not a good look for the NFL.

No doubt Roger and the owners will take action - by adding an 8th seed.

The current eight division four team alignment makes no sense to me. There are 32 teams and each team, every year, plays 37.5% of their games against the same three teams. Meanwhile before the 17th game was added every team only faces teams from the other conference once every four years.

I’d have four divisions of eight teams each and play one game within the division, eight games on a rotating basis against one of the other three divisions, and the last two games against one team from the two other divisions.

I’d also set the playoffs so the first round is against a division that wasn’t on the full schedule, like they do in soccer tournaments. Mix it up. Play teams you haven’t already played in the regular season.

Doubt any of that will happen because everyone is wedded to “conference championships” and existing rivalries.

This is the good stuff.

Everyone talks about drafting a WR early and that’s totally fine and probably should/will happen, but the Browns need to address the position in free agency too and most likely aren’t going to be in a position to break the bank for the biggest name guys.

Finding some undervalued WR2/WR3 types is going to be very important.

So important to keep in mind with this new playoff format. Is there is a more talented team added to wild card weekend as well as a less talented team. Who are now playing each other.

If anything I think it goes to show having 2 teams get byes is probably something to go back to.

The one positive of the 7th seed and one less bye is there are more teams jockeying for position at the end of the season and less resting players. At least it seems that way. But otherwise yeah two years in that extra 7 seed has provided some bad football games. Mentioned on another post in the NFL thread but the 11-5 Colts were a good addition last year. That's a playoff record and they had a competitive game with the Bills who made the AFC Championship game. However, the 8-8 Bears, 9-8 Eagles, and 9-7-1 Steelers were not playoff worthy teams and it showed in their games.

The reason a 7th seed was needed for the Colts is that we have four divisions in each conference. Some trash teams make the playoffs as a result. I’d prefer to see two or three divisions per conference which makes it more likely each division winner is legit. Then 12 teams in the playoffs would be enough.

Alternatively I’d like to see a rule that any playoff team must have a winning record. If no team in a division can do that - playing six games in a terrible division - then delete that division and add a WC team. If by some freak occurrence there aren’t enough teams with winning records to fill the slots then add enough others to fill slots but at worse seeds. No fucking way a team with a losing record should be hosting playoff games.

This. Have a hard time dropping a 1st on a WR, think a lot could be found in 2 & 3. That said, Chase with the Bengals makes you wonder. Of course we don’t have Burrow.

Besides improved QB play, DT is, IMO, the biggest need on this team.
