COD vs Battlefield

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Considering that multiplayer is pretty much the whole game in BF, I'd say that you didn't really play BF.

The single-player in Battlefield 4 was actually pretty competent. The story didn't really make much sense (not that recent CoD games are any better in that regard...basically every one since the original Modern Warfare was an incoherent shitshow), but the missions were fun and the set-pieces were pretty great. The destructible environments and ridiculous weather systems really made for some entertaining scenarios, like in one mission when you have to cross a bridge in the middle of a typhoon and you have to dodge cars are sliding around due to the wind and waves.

Having played the campaigns in both Ghosts and BF4, I'd have to say they are roughly the same. Neither really tries anything new, other than CoD letting you control a dog for about ten minutes (despite that being the main feature advertised), and both feature pointless and incoherent stories that you'll forget five minutes after you finish.

If you're looking for a military shooter with a legitimately well-written and well thought out story, check out Spec Ops: The Line. Other than that, there's not much out there that doesn't contain the dimmed intellect bravado of the BF, Medal of Honor, and CoD series.
