An NBA team drafted Anthony Bennett #1. I don't really get the argument behind this?

This pick is legitimately worse than Anthony Bennett. More draft experts raised red flags about his ability at the next level than ab.

I just can’t wrap my head around it. We picked the guy who literally does nothing good. He even had a bad workout with us. There even one statistic that suggests this guy will be good at the next level.

I’ve been angry at a bunch of Cavs picks but this one takes the cake. At least waiters, tt, Bennett, karesev, Zeller had some stats from college u could point to. I could see talking yourself into those bums.

This one...man... it’s so clear that pgs who can’t shoot don’t have a place in the modern nba. Guys who can’t pass or finish at the rim...

The explanation from the Cavs on why they liked the kid his aneurysm inducing. Platitudes about grit and competitiveness but nothing about any skill.

We replaced Kyrie w a skinny Marcus smart...

Okay, so what do I tell my know it all friend that states we drafted Patrick Beverley at #8?

Sexton averaged seven points higher in college and an assist more, but yes athletically similar. Plenty of goofs on this board that have little idea.

Anthony Bennett was the worst draft pick in NBA history, so OBVIOUSLY every Cavalier draft pick YOU don't agree with has to be JUST as horrible. Is That the argument YOU GET?
You used the fact that he was drafted in the top 10 to counter someone else's post critiquing his game. There have been tons of bad lottery picks over the years, several by the Cavs in recent years, so him going top 10 doesn't say much of anything at this point.

You made a claim that an nba team picked him high so that means he's good.

He illustrated why that's wrong.

There are other arguments to make here but this isn't one.

Guys...……….. We don't know. We don't know how good he will be or how big a bust he might be. Simple as that. All this back and forth bullshit is just that: Bullshit. We all want the same thing, just gotta let it play out.

Dwait was super athletic too.

As were hundreds of other people that aren't very good

I keep thinking back to this tweet. What does any of this even mean? He didn't have a great workout, but they were "enamoured by him as a person". What the fuck. You're drafting a basketball player, not someone to date your daughter.

Anything out of the top 5 in the NBA draft is a guessing game. That's my point. Top 5 has a pretty good shot at being a good NBA player, after that its 50/50. Its sad the NBA draft has come to that, but its the reality. That's why teams tank so hard for a top 3 pick.

So now athleticism isn't something you are looking for? Oh, wait he's a competitive animal too, which is what 3/4 of those busts didn't have. The dude can play.

I agree with you on that lacking. Do you have stats on how well he shoots specifically off the dribble, because I've seen a number of highlights of him hitting threes off the dribble. We previously agreed that is the harder skill to learn. Old fucks like me can learn to shoot threes from a standstill, but I do believe playing off the ball will take time for Sexton.

Jump shot off the dribble 80th percentile (0.956 .PPP 38.6 FG%, aFG 47.6%)

Catch and Shoot unguarded 19th Percentile (0.8333 .PPP , 27 FG%, 41.7 aFG%) (18 attempts)

Catch and shoot guarded 45th percentile (0.938 .PPP 31.3%, 46.9 aFG%) (16 attempts)

In the 93rd percentile from short range jumpers (1.111, 55.5 FG%)

in the 27th percentile at the rim (FG% 47.2)

So yeah, he is much better off the dribble.
