One thing you can't coach is speed. This kid is a blur and I do see a lot of Oladipo in his game. It would be nice to see someone get in Curry's face and irritate him right out of his comfort zone.
Seconding this. His game coming out looks a lot like Oladipo, but with better handles. I'm not sure what everybody is up in arms about. Kid looks like he can be really good.

He played at Bama and had no talent around him for Avery Johnson who might be just as bad as Lue.

Whoever the Cavs picked they would be up in arms over. Sexton was projected top ten. Cavs picked him at 8. So?

you just can't compare a project player like Sexton to Kyrie at this point. Kyrie's handles and clutch shooting, including three point shooting, were at the very highest all-NBA, borderline historic type level. Even if Sexton significantly improve his handles and shooting it's unlikely he would ever match Kyrie in those areas. They are just very different players. Sexton has some physical/athleticism strengths Kyrie did not as well.
i remember the 2011 draft a lot of cavs fans thought Brandon Knight and Derrick Williams was the way to go and bypass Irving.
Kids got a ton of skill and the will to work to become better. I think we should be ok at the point guard position.

I have yet to see any analysis of Sexton's game from a few of the people who are just venting.

Care to be the first? What about his game concerns you? Be specific. Use evidence.

His fg AT THE RIM was 47%last year that is fucking atrocious

Couple that w his poor 3point shooting, poor court vision and no playmaking..

Easily the worst pick of the lottery, I’d take any other guy

Bad, poor mechanical shot, no vision, undersized with poor handles. Basically a try hard type.

I misread the original post my mistake I thought you were describing his game. Didn't see the part about explaining his concerns its late and I'm tired my bad. Yeah Sexton isn't a catch and shoot player. My bad.

No problem...

That's my biggest issue to be honest if he is paired with Lebron. He is an atrocious catch and shoot player. Low awkward dip, arches his back, rigid mechanics...that's my biggest issue right now.

It's great that he's competitive and plays with fire. Really, it is. You need players like that, especially on a rebuilding team. If you assume that LeBron is out the door then this pick is likely a lot less frustrating for you.

But if LeBron is still here you're competing for championships. "Fire" and "competitive spirit" isn't enough. That isn't going to close the gap with Golden State at all. You need all-star talent, and it's unlikely that Sexton reaches that level in the next 3-4 years. So that's why I'm so frustrated.
