I mean if they play defense like this they can both start. They are playing great together when last year it seemed like they had very little chemistry

Even, though Sexton scored 22 points, last night. It was kinda an off night for him..Granted,the team didn't need him to score a bunch of points.

I hope players start knocking down shots so Sexton's assist numbers go up.

so pleased with Collin's new willingness to pass the ball and not always break the play in favor of a one on one iso.. he's realized those moments will come in the flow, and that he will get the ball back if he gives it up.. the rest of the team wants to make each other look good. I think my high water mark was 18 times a game where I'd tell Collin via my TV to give the ball up, to now, where I might have noted it 2 times where he should have kept the ball moving and didn't.

I was super down on him after his rookie year and through most of last year (what we had of it), but a switch was turned on, and now I think he can really be a very good NBA player.

Honestly, I think his switch has always been on. That switch is basically "consistent improvement", until he plateaus, we should keep expecting to see more from him.

Seems like his defense may have improved as well, which would be absolutely huge.

The Naruto assist last night (no look to Nance) was absolutely hilarious to see.
Either you see someone make immediate impact in the NBA because they're that good, or you see them kick ass later because they learn NBA basketball. Sexton appears to be the latter. You never really see SexISO unless the Cavs are sitting on a lead and the quarter is almost done. The growth of Garland has also helped out in that regard. You're right about the "PASS THE BALL" calls, thus far I can't think of too many plays where Sexton isn't letting the ball go if there's a passing lane.

Remember when Sexton wouldn't take 3s, but he has no hesitation doing that if he gets it in the corner or on a pull-up given the situation?

Imagine if he becomes better than SGA after all...

I think he is already better. He's unguardable. That's better than any one thing SGA does

Collin still needs to give the ball up quicker to the 3pt shooters at times. He still needs to work on his defensive positioning. I like his pretty ball hounding, but his positioning is worse than Garland who has been really good anticipating.

All those little things need to improve, but his off ball play had been killer, he is moving the ball even if he hasn't been generating assists, he knows his spots, his shot selection continues to improve, and he is playing with the team

If this is Garland, Sexton can focus on what he does best. They picked that team apart last night. They are both smart.

I can tell you exactly why this is a good team. They are exploiting weaknesses and getting multiple stops in a row while limiting 2nd chances. I would have loved to see 1 of those things, but they are doing all 3.

Yeah it's day and night. I also like that they can be staggered too so we always have capable ball handlers out there.

I think Staggering them for Defensive reasons is more important. Exum is a good defender, Okoro is a good defender, and KPJ if he comes back can defend. Sexton has really upped his game on defense and Garland is a decent defender, the effort is there, but neither is long and that will present a problem against some. Neither were asked to defend Simmons, which makes sense, and Danny Green has never been great at taking advantage of size advantages so it worked that game.

I do like the backcourt, I have defended it, but it has deficiencies, but effort and good coaching can help, besides this is such an offensive league, and Sexton's offense is very underrated except by us Cavs fans, he is just so damn efficient.
