If we get a top 3 pick, it's probably best to trade Sexton. Hopefully the Cavs are able to draft Jalen Green. I think he will end up the best player from this draft.
Disagree they would need to trade Sexton or Garland, if they took Green as the bpa for example. I don't think he is the best player in this draft but he is already on track to be the most polarizing. They could take him at 5 or 6 with him and Suggs as the bpa picks there.
But say they did. They would at least play them all together, until they found out,if Green could earn the role after a season or two, they would know what the best line ups were, and if anyone, including Garland Okoro etc were better off moved. You don't trade away a player averaging the type of stats Sexton does, with his efficiency, to accommodate the drafting of a player like Jalen Green, who for the most part is the exact same type of on ball dominant player, coming into the nba, that you would be forcing into a off ball situation. It is even more obvious to me than with Sexton that Green needs the ball. At least Sexton is able to play in multiple situations already.
Almost all these guards, that are the best guards in each class, are more proven on ball, than off.
Taking an off ball dominant guard, would mean reaching on Moody or someone like that, who's main reason for that label is not his elite off ball play, but his lack of ability as a ball handler and isolation player.
imo the verdict is where the pick determines a lot. But I don't see them drafting a guard after the Altman presser unless they are out of the chance to take a high value forward.

Pluto in his article said he would offer Sexton 4 years 80 million to extend,,,anyone think Sexton wouldn't bust out loud
laughing at that offer.?

Who else is paying him? One dimensional Pgs are a dime a dozen. I would think even that would be an overpay for him.

Sexton isn't a point guard,he's a shooting guard...
why do people keep saying this? Sexton is a score first combo guard not a off ball guard by trade. Sexton can easily run an offense in his 4th season but he is not as good at it as Garland too most people because they never can afford to let Sexton try to do that with the need for his scoring. It is not that difficult.
The Cavs should never break up the back court because some fans think head height is important

It's being reported the Cavs would be interested in CJ McCollum for possibly Sexton and Love. Per Jabari Parker.
If memory serves,,,,, somebody brought that up in this forum.

Same article says "Go strong for Allen" and is fine with a 5 years 100 million offer. He thinks it will be easier to trade Allen vs Sexton.

I think he is out of touch on this kind of stuff with the NBA in its current form. We had to give up only a late 1st round pick to get Allen while he was still on his rookie contract. TT and Drummond were basically untradable. If we decide to trade Allen it will be because he is under preforming or ends up a bad fit.

I find it baffling that people would give a guy a max deal that doesn't stretch the offense, get killed on the defensive side on most nights and etc. I think people overrating Allen just a little bit..While,he's a good defensive player and will make most of his shots, especially in the paint. I think people needs to slow their roll when it comes to him...imo.

His critique of Sexton is laughable,he use the "he's not a pretty player" like that's a valid argument. Why does Sexton needs to play pretty. Sexton gets the job done but who cares as long it looks pretty.

What's even more laughable,he says Sexton commit silly turnovers and dribbles into trouble like Garland never does that at all. While,Sexton does commit turnover so does everyone on this team.

I think Allen at 15-20 million per is good and Sexton at 20-25 million per is where I would be with those guys....
however I'm pretty sure neither of those guys will settle for that.

Not sure he makes us a playoff team but I’d do that deal on a heartbeat
It would be a better fit w/Garland anyway.
Sounds like Zingas isn't happy playing with Luka and his league leading 36% usage rate.
Zingas and Brunson for Love and Collin would work. I think Zingas next to Allen would fit and then your draft pick can be any number of the wings that are available there. Brunson would be solid as the bench PG. Always have to be worried about injuries with the Latvian of course.
Dallas does it to give Luka some scoring pop on the wing, and they could talk themselves into healthy motivated Love filling what they lose from Zingas.
