Will he ever be a Kawhi,Lebron and etc.. No,but he plays good enough defense especially when he's in the ball...

People, who say Sexton is bad at defense says it because it's the popular thing to say. Sexton holds his own especially against taller guards. A lot of fans and local media act like he gets completely annhilated on defense.

Does he makes mistakes...yes

Does he makes bad decisions on defense...yes

Does he needs to improve...yes

But,lets not act like he gets completely annhilated by taller guards all the time....

We don't need Sexton and Garland too be lockdown defenders. We need them to be at least average or above average.

If,anything we need a lockdown player at the power forward position. One that can stay healthy most of the time.

Sexton struggles with taller guards and forwards. If he was paired with a tall pg, then the issue is solved, he has decent on ball defense and he gives effort. I dont hate Sexton, but he and Garland together create a possible issue, you need perfect roster construction to avoid the issue.

Plus i am fearful of him wanting the max, he is worth allot, but i dont think Sexton is a max player.

He is a max player imo easily, if the team around him was better, but since it isn't, he might not get it without fan pushback. But he should still get it. It will put pressure on the roster around him but they need it anyway.
They need to decide if Sexland stays or goes pretty quickly imo. I get people wanting to ride with Garland because he has that feel thing, but he is so far away physically still, and so less effective as a scorer that he in fact hurts the other guards offensively, even if his passing feeds the big roll man. I think it will come down to draft position if Garland stays on the roster more than some of you believe, and also to a lesser amount if Sexton gets the max extension, or is asked to test the market, which would eventually lead to his departure if it is a lot because they will have already overpaid Allen imo.

Nope. Neither player is worth the max. You post this same junk day after day. Are you Mrs Sexton???

He gives effort, that is one of his best qualities. I think he is coachable, but you cant fix 6'1 and he isnt a great floor general but he does posses some passing skill, just not enough to ever be a good pg imo.

But he is a good 3 point shooter, incredible drive and quickness. He posses some skill. I am not sure he is a max contract guy though, but probably 20 mill or so a year guy because he is a good player. I think we are in a tough spot with him. I like Garland allot as a floor general, and I think the 2 can work, but it severely limits your roster construction with 2 6'1 guards starting.

I just dont see Sexton as an easy answer and I do see why he is polarizing.

You can easily sub either Sexton or Garland out early in the game and allow them to retain their designation as a starter. I also think Sexton is more than capable of taking the role of a backup PG if we can't find another guard that comes off the bench to pair with him to play the point.

I think it's more important to think of the game as 48 minutes with very functional lineups. Spread out our talent instead of hockey style lineup changes. Let our team have the flexibility to matchup or exploit mismatches.

If we spread Sexton and Garland's minutes and stop thinking of them as a duo, it makes better sense for roster building. Having better talent especially scoring talent beyond those two plays into this. If both play 30 minutes a game, we can play them 36 minutes apart and 12 minutes together.

We just need to trade one of the 10 future 2nd round picks we have from other teams to get a tall backup PG in this draft. This draft has alot of tall PGs we should be able to find a very good match.

I think Sexton gets the max if he hits RFA next year but if Koby is any good at his job he should be able to get Sexton on a discount with an extension.

Where’s all the guys who were using Jazz as their example that you can win a championship with 2 undersized guards?

Might have helped if either of their guards were healthy.

Regardless, I’m not expecting the Cavs to ever be in the finals again. So, I’m just trying to build a good team. I’d gladly be the Jazz East.

This. Start them both sub early based on matchups. They both get starter mins

Wait the same Ty Lue everybody said “wasn’t a very good coach”? ;)

Lue couldn't handle developing and the struggles of a rebuilding team. He is a playoff coach. He is able to breakdown and destroy system teams like Utah, Boston, and Atlanta.

He also has the 2nd most talented team left in the playoffs.

And he had the more talented teams when he beat those "system teams" as well.

I'm sensing a pattern to when he wins, and when he doesn't....

He has either lucked into good situations or has picked them wisely. It was in his best interest to get fired from the Cavs. He is a coach for a contender. I highly doubt he could be a coach that develops young talent then gets them to the playoffs.

the jazz team was outcoached and having conley out for most of the series didn't help. lue does his best work as the series goes along. his in-game adjustment sucks, but his game to game adjustment is really good.
