I think this says that it would be a major mistake to shop Sexton. He is finishing average with F! Spacing. He's creating 3pt shots his guys can't knock down. Speaks to Wades effectiveness and why Kevin helps him too. He looked great with Windler during that hot streak.

Seeing his own easy 3pt shots are basically non-existent and his spacing sucks and he still scored efficiently means he will destroy with more space.

These guys need time to cook and we need some vet shooters.

This is,why I don't understand people so quick to give up on Sexton when he has no spacing around him.

Trae Young is playing better than last year because he has shooters around him but people think trading away Sexton will fix our spacing problem.

I also think it's not just good percentage 3pt shooters that we need to look for. We need shooters that are both comfortable shooting with volume and in different places around the arch that we lack shooters. If our shooter aren't comfortable in the spots they are places in sets in then it doesn't help spacing or gravity.

I also think that the coaching staff need to work out how they want guys to space the floor and how we can maximize are ball handlers to provide better movement. I'd like to see us use bigs or non ball handling wings in the corners and use our ball handlers out towards the top of the arch. That will give space to operate as ball handlers and bigs can come in to rebound from the corners.

Says he has A gravity which I have said before. It means guys are open and they need to be able to take advantage

Been saying it but having consistent shooters outside will help Sexton’s game. With no space or hitting clank shots are not going to help. As Cavatt mentioned we need guys to take advantage. We saw spacing was better when Windler, Love, and Wade are in.

Those that are anti Sexton see he wont ever be a true PG like Young or Curry who are far better passers and floor generals, thus he has to play and guard the 2 at 6'1 and it will fix the defense...some.

But everyone recognizes his scoring efficiency is good with potentially elite efficiency.

I do not understand anyone that is anti sexton. What has he done to be against the kid. They are against him because he is not a 6’9 Magic Johnson? Allen is no Olajuwon either so don’t sign his ass to a long term deal
Sexton is what he is. A proficient ,efficient scorer with an attitude I wish every nba player had

With the right team around him he could be a good 2 guard or a great offensive sixth man. But we have made zero effort to put the right kind of team around him. It's just frustrating.

I don't know about the right kind of team. He needs guys that can shoot around him. Just like every other player in the NBA.

We talk about what he is doing for the team a lot. It says here he is driving and kicking and guys can't knock those shots down. How much did we complain about that from Cedi, Nance and even Love this year?

I do think this is the year they make more of an effort to make the pieces fit. It makes sense. They have 3 good prospects and Center who should also improve. Add another good piece and then see how you can make them fit.

We are truly in desperate need of shooting. I hope WIndler Wade and Love are put in better positions next year.

Like I said, those against see him as an undersized PG. He is a bit of a ball stop thus doesnt create for others as much and doesnt create efficient offense for the team, just himself.

He is also a bad defender. The biggest issue is he isnt a max level player but might cost us the max to keep. As a player he has a role for sure on a championship team, but if you end up paying him max money because he was the #1 scorer for a bad team, you might end up regretting that decision.

Its not an easy situation.

I wish people be specific when they say this nonsense. His on ball defense is good it's his off ball that's a problem and even then some of it is the fault of his teammates and scheme.

He gives effort, that is one of his best qualities. I think he is coachable, but you cant fix 6'1 and he isnt a great floor general but he does posses some passing skill, just not enough to ever be a good pg imo.

But he is a good 3 point shooter, incredible drive and quickness. He posses some skill. I am not sure he is a max contract guy though, but probably 20 mill or so a year guy because he is a good player. I think we are in a tough spot with him. I like Garland allot as a floor general, and I think the 2 can work, but it severely limits your roster construction with 2 6'1 guards starting.

I just dont see Sexton as an easy answer and I do see why he is polarizing.

Will he ever be a Kawhi,Lebron and etc.. No,but he plays good enough defense especially when he's in the ball...

People, who say Sexton is bad at defense says it because it's the popular thing to say. Sexton holds his own especially against taller guards. A lot of fans and local media act like he gets completely annhilated on defense.

Does he makes mistakes...yes

Does he makes bad decisions on defense...yes

Does he needs to improve...yes

But,lets not act like he gets completely annhilated by taller guards all the time....

We don't need Sexton and Garland too be lockdown defenders. We need them to be at least average or above average.

If,anything we need a lockdown player at the power forward position. One that can stay healthy most of the time.
