I'd be surprised if Love isn't back on the west coast next year. You talk like we are competing for a championship while the reality is we are predicted to be in the battle for the 8th seed, more than half the league is more competitive than that. Before last year we couldn't wait to be rid of him and someone out there will offer him a 2-3 year deal, I'd be stunned if we'd do that again. It wouldn't be at all surprising to see him return to his UCLA roots and join up with LBJ again.
You're nuts if you think a Cavs team with Mobley entering his 3rd season, Garland his 5th, and Allen his 7th is not a legitimate title contender.

I bet either James Jones or Lebron will recruit Love to play on a vet min type contract next summer. Actually PHX would be a great landing spot for him. Close to the WC, contending team, etc.
Chris Paul will be 38 years old when that season starts. The Cavs will likely be better than them by this point.

I highly doubt Love wants to leave the team when his contract is up. IF someone offers him a lot more money maybe, but he has a coach he likes, they are winning and he has gotten big cred for helping a young team and turned his image around.

He's also in a role he can handle. Going to a team and them thinking he is going to be a big part of it, could honestly be bad for him.

If he lasts past the deadline I am sure they will have discussed a new contract.

Agreed. By next summer he'll have been in Cleveland for 9 years, and he'll be turning 35. He has seniority here. He was here for the ring, the rebuild, and the rebirth. I tend to think he would ride it out and play a meaningful 18 mpg knowing he can live wherever he wants once he retires a couple of years later. But we shall see.

Even through the darkest days, I always hoped we’d find a way to have Kevin Love retire a Cavalier.

How many hall of famers have played the majority of their careers in Cleveland AND retired here? Even if you look across all sports, it’s a very select group.

Yeah I think the only thing would be if one of his best friends wanted him to play on his team and there was clearly a role. No controlling that

There's probably been just as many guys in Love's situation that leave as guys that stay, if not more that leave.

He showed he can be a fantastic complimentary piece to a contending team last year. Guy that can come off the bench, hit 3's, rebound and pass, and if het gets hot, carry the offense. Exactly what contending teams would look for. I don't think his performance expectations would be any different on a contender compared to what he's expected to do here.

You're nuts if you have no doubt they are. We have no idea what Mobley will be, we hope he develops into one of the best players in the league but his offensive game is far from it right now. Today Vegas has us at an over/under of 42.5 this year, there are 17 teams with higher totals. You expect 1 year more year of development makes a sure bet to be title contenders?? It's hard to win a title, LBJ spoiled us with all those finals appearances. Remember we never even sniffed the finals with Price, Daugherty and Nance.

A title CONTENDER? They're absolutely a contender.

Nobody said they're the favorite, and lord knows the betting landscape isn't going to bet heavy on them. And that's fine. But they definitely are a contender.

I'm astonished that Vegas expects us to win FEWER games than last year, when we had all kinds of injury problems to key players.

Last year Sexton, our leading scorer the previous season, played 11 games. LeVert played 19 (for the Cavs), and Allen 56. Markkanen missed 21 games. Rubio played 34 but that's about what he'll play this year so I'm not including him.

Who did we lose? Rondo, Moses Brown, Pangos, Denzel Valentine, Luke Kornet. Who is the best player we lost? Probably Brandon Goodwin, our third string point guard.

So take last year's 44-win team, subtract absolutely nothing, add 70 games of Sexton, 60 games of Levert, 20 games of Allen (assuming no injuries), and Agbagi and now you have a WORSE team?

I get that they think the East will be stronger this year, and it may. But I can't see the Cavs losing MORE games than last season. And I didn't even consider the likely improvement by Mobley and Okoro, both of whom are reported to be working very hard this summer on specific areas of their games that need improvement.

He signed for what they offered last year. Jesus
