Last night it looked like he was dribbling too much. They don't give style points in the NBA. But he was obviously rusty so no complaints.

I think it was a combination of things. Yes, Garland was forcing it a bit. Also, it was his first time playing with two new teammates, the offense is using more simple pick-and-roll plays, and he probably also was just a bit out of game shape.

He reminds me of a young Chris Paul. Not the fastest or most athletic but has elite short area quickness, twitchy stop & go and crafty passer.

I looked at his stats, he's shooting 43.6 % overall and 44.4% from 3, that's not that bad?

Just meant last night.

To be fair he hoisted one way out there at the end and I think nobody realized he was doing that to get Collin his double double from the 10th assist.

Well... he was out there tonight.

But Geesh he looked bad.

The entire team looked bad last night besides Jarrett Allen. I think it underscored the importance of the Cavs finding a big 2-way wing that is more than just a 3+D role player, because Brown and Tatum just absolutely tore us apart. But the Celtics were on their game, and they do a great job defending guards.. Celtics are a legitimate contender or close to it. At home, AFC championship weekend...

Yesterdays game- throw it in the trash heap but take the film and use it to call out the poor effort. Garland also is working to get his rhythm back. Shoulder injuries are tough, and effects can linger for a couple weeks after players return.

Tatum didn't even play.

Felt like a worst case scenario first quarter in which the Cavs had some lapses AND the Celtics were making everything. Meanwhile, the Cavs couldn't buy a bucket. Game kind of spiraled from there.

Garlands swing skill is generating 3s off the dribble. Even if he never manages to finish in the paint, if he can punish players that drop under the screen then he's going to be effective. Of course I've worried about his ability to capitalise on the space his dribble creates all year so I'm not sold it will be fixed anytime soon

If this team is going to be consistently good, we can’t have poor guard play.

We don’t have a wing player who can play both ends or create at a high level.

So if Garland and Sexton play like they did last night, we won’t beat good teams consistently.

As young players both of them will be inconsistent.

But they are the engine for the team. If they don’t get moving, nothing else will.

Darius needs to protect the ball better. I'm not going to put too much weight on the clunker last night, it was bound to happen at some point. However, Garland can get loose with the handles a bit. Finishing among big guys should be better too. Picked 5th overall and you've had some time to get used to the pace/size of the NBA.

I'm still up on his future, but time to get going on it now.

He still dribbles too much, its like always trying to do a dribbling exhibition out there.... He also needs to learn to finish inside, it would take a while as he is not used playing against the lenght and athleticism of the nba... If he doesn't show significant improvement and consistency by next season, it might be time to breakup the Sexland duo...

Can the coaching staff get this guy to take 3's? Like this is the most hesitant shooter I've ever seen.

Right, what’s with his hesitation? Shooting threes was supposed to be his specialty coming into the league and now he refuses to even attempt them.
