Yeah because a 21 year old 2nd year player shooting 44% from 3 is so terrible. He has clearly improved in every way from his rookie season, i don't know what more we can ask from him at this point.
to shoot more 3s?

That is just the team in general. Need more ball movement and 3pt attempts from those who should be shooting...Garland, Sexton, Windler, etc

The board is very reactionary after a loss. Garland needs more time which us winning out of the gate may rob him of some of those growing pain games that he deserves.

Yes but i think I'd rather have this problem than young guys who just chuck it. I think the young guys will learn to just let it fly at some point but with Drummond demanding so many touches in the post it seems to take everyone out of rhythm.

Why are folks in a rush to have a dude coming off a shoulder injury to shoot more? The injury was to his shooting shoulder and you want him to shoot through it? Let him get his rhythm back as *he* feels comfortable. If Baker had to sit for a few weeks because of a shoulder injury, would folks want Stefanski to call for 30-40 pass plays, or lean on the running game?

If he can’t shoot it as much as he needs to shoot it...he shouldn’t be playing. It’s his supposedly best attribute. And I would just about guarantee he’s putting up 100 shots in pregame anyway. So I don’t get it

Shooting a basketball requires rhythm and precision. Obviously *he* isn't feeling completely comfortable yet, so why push it?

Maybe one day he’ll rediscover the rhythm he found when shooting in an empty gym pre-draft. Stuff of legend.

In the first two games back after his shoulder injury Garland wasn't right, going 5-for-22 from the field. In the four games since he's 26-for-52 (50%) and 7-for-11 on 3's. His shooting has been excellent the last four games. However, he has 15 assists against 13 turnovers which is unacceptable for a point guard. His shooting is really coming around; now he needs to up the assists and decrease the turnovers to get to a 2/1 ratio and he'll be a pretty good point guard.

He's in his second season (sort of, his rookie season was abbreviated) and he just turned 21. I think he's going to be a solid starting point guard, probably not Chris Paul, but pretty decent.

What we need is a 6'7" wing who can score any which way like Jayson Tatum.

This is getting pretty silly. He's 21, he's a point guard meaning he also has to run the offense. He basically skipped college and went straight to the NBA. He's shooting 44%, did i mention he's 21?

Garland's handles do not seem as tight as his risks warrant with them. I've still got space for him to find his place, as he's still young and you can see he has NBA skills, but I'd like him to pull back on some of what he's trying to do and maybe have the game come to him more.. then push things.

@ryanf

Just wanted to let you know I'm not ignoring you. I just think we've reached an impasse.

Our eyes are telling us different things, and the numbers I'm using to back up my opinion haven't swayed you.

It is what it is.

nice @Derek. let's see by end of the season what will happen. happy to eat crow if garland proves me wrong. only time will tell.

bring this up again and i'd be happy to humor you if you're right.

Wasn't Garland the *only* player to have a good game just 2 games ago? Yall are so schizophrenic and dire. The kid played 3 games in college, half a season his rookie year and an abridged/nontraditional offseason. He was having a fantastic start til he injured his shooting shoulder. He's been decent since. If yall wanna jump off the ledge on him, please do. But these constant hyperbolic reactions after every game of a 72 game season are exhausting.

pull up some of the reactions to sexton his first year. Second year too.

It was embarrassing.

Put it like this: 70 something games in and he hasnt had one truly great game.

Immanuel Quickleys game the other night? Literally better than any game Garland has had so far.

I want to see him take over one game, one time. Show me theres at least a chance at being an all-star caliber player somewhere in there.

The problem is, he sucks and he should be traded. Get rid of this loser!

I personally don't have a problem with Garland's talent. I think he has a fine stroke and his finishing is a little underrated. He can be explosive, in the blink of the eye. It is especially noticeably this season.

My problem is upstairs with the kid. He just seems aloof, lacks confidence in his manhood kind of thing. Watching Drummond clap and Garland quickly throw him the ball is demoralizing.
