Garland is fun to watch. Seems to just look like someone that is taking total control of the offense with no panic as the shot clock runs down. His upside could be scary good.
From a Cavs standpoint, the only person I can recall being this confident with when they have the ball in their hands with the shot clock winding down is LeBron. I just love to watch it unfold. Like LeBron, he’s going to make the right play or at least try. Kyrie never had these vibes.

Watching back Mark Price highlights, it's crazy to me how much Garland plays like him. Probably the best historical comparison there is for DG in terms of play style. Price would've been even better in today's game than he was then.

Nobody mentioned LaMelo Ball when talking about point guards in the east?

Very different games, but he is also a bonafide stud.
Should we call him a PG? He's in his own universe with his size and approach. It's like the globetrotters out there (in a good way).

Why would he be better today?

He would get abused by starting pgs... and honestly garlands burst is on another level

Yeah I think so. That’s what he came in as and that’s his listed position.

Not impressed with the 18 ast. Like Bimbo said, his usage is too high. Anyone can get 18 ast if they always have the ball…

All joking aside, DG has become a freaking star in this league! We literally are good health away from being a top team in the East, shoot we might be anyway.

Because he would launch far more threes and he's a lot quicker than people give him credit for. In an open spread floor and with the reliance on the PnR in today's game he would be even more deadly. As far as defense, there are a lot of bad defensive PGs today who are still stars. Morant, Trae, Kyrie, Lillard, even Garland though it's not as obvious this season with Mobley/Allen backing him up. I'm not convinced that Price would be so much worse than that pack of players that it would take away a ridiculous amount from the insane offensive impact he would have. And it's not like the 90s were the 50s. The crop of athletic guards in the league that Price would've had to go up against wasn't much worse than today. The Cavs still managed the 3rd ranked defense in 1995 and 2nd in 1989 with Price at the point of attack, just like how we have the 3rd ranked defense despite DG not being ideal at the point of attack.

Cavs played some fantastic young up and coming guards over that Westcoast road trip and I can honestly say given his age, upside and overall skill level there’s not a single one I would trade Garland for….

Honestly its hard trading your own players you saw drafted and grown when they are now playing at all star level. Take Ja, I love his game, but at this point rather continue to see how Garland develops. He has HUGE chemistry with Allen, they are close friends...he has Chemistry with Mobley too....just hard to trade

I give him a lot of credit for knowing how to make entry passes, and how to set up big men properly. More difficult to do than just driving and kicking
