The sooner he realizes that the team needs him distributing more than shooting, the sooner the team will take off.

Mobley is ready to be a hub and Mitchell is an all-NBA player.

Garland already secured the bag. It’s time for him to play more like a 3rd option than an alpha. Maybe some spacing will help in that regard when the team finally has a 3rd shooter in the starting unit.
Nothing to add.

This is it in a nutshell.

This entire season he's trying to play like a score first guard as if he should be the teams primary offensive finisher.

He's trying to be Ja Morant when everyone in here was saying he's the next Steve Nash.

It's ugly right now.

At this point I'd rather have garland take zero shots in a game than 20. Want mobley to be more involved because he's a willing passer.

Crunchland™ is super weak.

How 'bout Crunchtime™? Huh? Like 10 times better?

He use to be good on the road last year, what the hell happened.

I dont think he wants to relinquish the keys to the offense just yet...

I dont know how to phrase this but- Garland has a real feminine way about him lmao. He is boyish in stature and really needs to hit the weightroom. He is one of the only nba players i legit think I would stand a chance in a fist fight with. He doesnt handle physicality well and gets pushed around way too much. I dont think guards need to be built like Donovan per se...but if you look at DG next to Curry...its the juxtoposition of a boy next to a man. Even his cute little fluff on top pineapple haircut is childish. He also seems to get winded at the end of games. I really think he needs to toughen up somehow.

If the problem is Garland is denying Mobley ascent above him on the food chain why this team is playing like crap, that is as much Mobley's problem as Garlands.

Wild guess? He feels the need to assert himself and is taking more shots vs. setting the table. He sees what Mitchell is capable of off the dribble and wants to show the world he can do it too.

I actually think Donovan is encouraging it. He has been telling Garland to get his first and it really isn't working. They have both said so in interviews.

Garland gets going by orchestrating and he doesn't realize it? Just a mess because they need him to corral the team.

As far as Mitchell, he was killing it with the drive and kick which we were missing since Sexton went down.

Well not only is Mitchell's leg bothering him so he isn't as explosive, but he also isn't passing it once he is in the paint and is missing tougher and tougher shots as they know he is putting it up and not passing.

Not establishing the passing game is in my opinion the source of the bad offense as well as partially responsible for the bad shooting

From a few days ago:

““I’ve been hit in my eye about eight times this season already,”… “I don’t know what it is but, I mean, I’ve had a target on my back. So, I have to accept it. I’m just going to get hit in my face.” – Darius Garland

Are you my Dad's secret account here on RCF? Somehow you typed out part of his script in this post, lol. He calls me from Florida to complain about DG after every single loss going back to the play in games last season.

Hopefully the kid turns it around pretty soon or I'm going to start turning off my phone after some of these losses.

A lot of whats being were my big issues with Garland since he's been a Cav and even last year.

It's just his skill started to overshadow the issues.

But still, to relist: he's mentally fragile. You can see him start to spiral, in real time, when things aren't going his way. Instead of being a calming presence he basically can be the opposite.

He doesn't have any dog in him that great small players have to have. He's small and generally plays even smaller.

Also still question his overall ability to make difficult passes. He gets amongst the trees and he struggles to get it out to a shooter from that point.

Now, the talent started to shine through last year. But a lot of that still exists in my mind. You still see him spiral. You still see him shrink on defense and on the glass. You still see him struggle to find shooters once in the lane.

This year, though, we've got this added bonus from last year where he's absolutely looking for his own offense before anyone else.

At this point it would take a lot to convince he doesn't have an issue with Mitchell in some fashion. He is absolutely trying to prove almost every night he's just as good as Donovan.

Rich, the offense is stagnant with no separation. Of course that leads to hero ball with a gimp wrist. Mitchell ain't the problem. It's getting enough guys to shoot and for Garland to work as game manager first. Something harder to do when you lack shooters

I just don't think he should be trying to score as much. Jb doesn't seem to think so because we have no offense where we can get guys open looks, so if you can't create your own shot you're useless on this team. Should be going to mobley at the key. He's decent there and ok at finding guys cutting
