What is this Wade slander? He is a perfect fit for our current starting 5 as a defense first, low usage, plus 3pt shooter who moves the ball and doesn't make too many mistakes and has good size too.

If we get someone better and he moves into a bench role, I'm fine with that too. But imo the SF problem is overblown. We have the guy here already.

Stevens has done a solid job filling in even given the other deficiencies in his game. He is aggressive, defends well, rebounds well, and has shown a bit more outside shooting consistency. He should be our 10th man and hes great at that role. Injuries force him to play up.

I'm not opposed to moving some combo of Levert/Cedi/Okoro/Windler and 2nds for a better wing. Fournier and McDermott maybe those guys, but if we get either, Wade and Stevens will be key to make it work given how bad those two are on D.

My bigger concern is our coaching staff will have no idea what to do with either guys since they can apparently only prep their offensive game plan in the offseason and have no idea how to adjust midseason

Yeah the guys we are talking about are not good defenders. Worse than Cedi IMO.

That means they are all coming off the bench just with worse ball handling and worse in transition than Cedi.

I hope Wade gets right. He looked great before the shoulder thing. His shot is a lot faster this year.

I think some of Garlands shot attempts should be going to Mobley. I think this year is highly unlikely we move past 2nd round. Its still a year we can develop Mobley. With Spidas contract ending in a couple years we have to expedite the development of Mobley. I would like to see Mobley scoring 20 ppg by the end of the season.

Said this for awhile.

Actually, I thought Caris and Donovan didn't pass to Allen enough. Garland does frequently.

But I don't think Garland passes to Mitchell enough.

lol i kinda noticed that too. he doesnt get Spida the rock sometimes.

I love Garland as much as the next guy, but considering how much Garland shrinks when facing immense defensive pressure, I think we could cut bait and trade Garland and Levert to Indy for Tyrese Haliburton. It would be a much better fit next to Mitchell. I still think Garland and Mitchell will do very well, and maybe in the playoffs defenses will be too keyed in on Mitchell and give Garland some more room to operate. He should be moved off ball in late game scenarios and take advantage of his elite shooting, and run off ball screens to get him open, Ala the Curry playbook. But if it doesn't work out, cut bait for T.

Lol what? Indiana would decline that so fast. Hali is a total stud. He’s way taller, he’s a better playmaker than Garland leading the league in assists by a long shot, he’s less turnover prone, he’s a better defender, a better rebounder, and he’s much more efficient, shooting over 40% from 3 every season he’s been in the league and on good volume. Oh yeah, and he’s younger.

So you are saying we massively overpaid to max out Garland and he has not nearly the value of Hali? Hali is only 185lbs. Not like he is a giant but decently taller. Or you're saying Hali is a supermax stud top 5 player? Hali is good but so is Garland. That's why I'm saying sell Garland at max value now before he gets hurt driving into the paint and has a career setback. Throw in expiring in Levert and maybe Okoro the filler and get it done.

What is Garland better at than Haliburton? Hali is the total package and can be the best PG in the league at his peak. Garland is a low-tier All Star who will always be limited by his size. 6’1 vs 6’5 is an enormous difference. Hali has an AST/TO ratio of 4.1, which is absurd, all the while leading the league in assists. Garland’s is 2.2 just to illustrate how massive the gulf there is. Haliburton averages 50% more steals. Almost twice as many rebounds. And he shoots 3% better from 3 for his career and almost 2% better this season from there. 5% better TS percentage for his career and 5% better TS percentage this season. Hali’s Box Plus-Minus is THREE times as high at 7.5 compared to Garland’s 2.5, and after yet another poor showing by DG tonight, it’ll only be a bigger gap.

Again, he’s just better at everything, significantly taller, and even a little younger while having one less season of experience. He oftentimes looks like a taller CP3 out there and I think he hasn’t even hit his ceiling. There’s no reason to take Garland over Haliburton.

Dont have the numbers on it but I think a lot of NBA heads would disagree with you. Hali/Garland/Trae is probably the closest grouping of players at any position in the league right now. My biased take wants to say Garland, but Hali is also really damn good for the reasons you outline.

Almost anyone with a normal brain would take Hali over Garland.

Garland has a lot of bad habits post-Toronto Booty Fingers incident. Too much trying to get his own shot going, when he needs to go Rondo mode for a minute.

The sooner he realizes that the team needs him distributing more than shooting, the sooner the team will take off.

Mobley is ready to be a hub and Mitchell is an all-NBA player.

Garland already secured the bag. It’s time for him to play more like a 3rd option than an alpha. Maybe some spacing will help in that regard when the team finally has a 3rd shooter in the starting unit.
