PG is lowkey extremely loaded right now. This might be the strongest group of PGs in NBA history. Id have to think about the rankings but DG is cleanly top 10 to me. Historically that would put him as a solid allstar/fringe all nba guy and there is still time for him to develop.

I was wrong about him at rhe draft (wanted Culver) and im so happy about it

PG is extremely loaded. I feel more than tad bit homerish to rank him ahead of Chris Paul and Jrue Holiday before I even see him in the playoffs.

Yeah I think Garland over Jrue is hard to justify. Gotta say Paul looks a lil cooked this year. Might just be saving himself for the post season but age may have finally caught up there

Yea the more I look at it the more I'm wanting to move Holiday way up the list.

I think Garland is in the Fox and Haliburton tier. All of those guys need to prove it in the post-season. They all need to actually get to the post-season.

I agree with you Rich. I asked because I am not sure besides DM- that we have a legit all star. I expected more from Garland this year..I really did. He has been good but he seems to be stagnating. Obviously Mobley isnt an all star either yet. Garland is a pleasure to watch due to his ball handling and smooth shooting ability. But he is a below average defender, injury prone, and most of all he seems to shrink in crunch time. He is in year 4 so its not the end of the world but- we need him to ascend to top 5 point guard status for the Cavs to make some noise in the playoffs. A part of me thinks we still need another all star piece.

I dunno not every player becomes a superstar. Most don't.

If he doesn't take a superstar leap in a couple of years and the pairing with Mitchell doesn't seem to be yielding results, he might get moved.

You know, let's say his whole career exists in the, I dunno, Jrue Holiday tier of point guard. Somewhere on the tail end of top 10. Makes a few all-star games.

That's still good. But it's "3rd best player on a title team" type of good. And it will require a truly great, great player to win a title.

But that's normal. You either get lucky and find a true superstar and become a title contender, or you don't. There's really no other magic bullet to it.

I’d trade our whole roster for Luka
And you'd get immediately fired as GM, permanently black listed by all NBA teams (all the while becoming the butt of jokes around the league) and have to seek a career working at the post office to make ends meet.

Ok WarDog, we got 3 allstars and and a top 10 defensive player in the NBA and we’re only 3 games ahead of Luka leading a bunch of role players. Luka went to the western conference finals last year we didn’t even make the playoffs.

I love our squad but Luka is gonna be a top 10 maybe top 5 all time great.

He needs to cut out these momentum killing turnovers. There was period last night when the Cavs were starting to pull away and Garland got really sloppy and was over dribbling, game shifted from then.

Can we stop with the "we have 3 all-stars" thing. Jarrett Allen will probably never make an all-star game again. Mo Williams was technically an all-star too.
Can someone post a list of NBA big men who made their first all star game at age 23 and then never made it again?

Fact is, based on just this year, he's probably even up with Jalen Brunson as a player. That's where it is right now.

Due to his age and the fact that he's played at a higher level longer, I'd still take Garland going forward rather easily. But he's borderline top 10 right now as a PG.

Flip side: Mavs not giving Brunson that extension last winter is a colossal fuckup. They'd be title contenders right now with Brunson and Wood. Instead, that'll be the reason cited by Luka when he ultimately leaves the Mavs in a couple of years as to why he's leaving.

Bynum comes close doesn't he? What a disaster
Yeah, I should have added the qualifier "not related to injuries." Was there ever a first time all star 23 year old big who didn't suffer a major injury who never again made it to the all star game again?
