Most of Garland's sins was wearing out and missing some 3's down the stretch he needed to hit. Guy simply isn't a elite scorer for that. Other need to play defense and help out.

The league is so talented now. Being an allstar is a lot harder than it used to be. We have four guys on our team who, if having the season they are now, wouldve been allstar every year from like 2000-2017.

DG is doing fine. If he can level up again, ill take it but I'm not worried. Not like he's Jordan poole

Four guys? No way. Just Garland and Mitchell.

Garlands stats are almost identical to last year BtW - he’s doing fine

I also think Garland is doing "fine". My slight disappointment is he has not taken another step forward this year. He's still very young and in no way a finished product, and learning to play with Mitchell has likely caused some adjustment, but we've seen him be pretty bad in some key late-game situations this year. That's the step we really need him to take. With the construction of this year's team, we don't need his overall stat line to get bigger, we need him to be clutch. We need "that guy" who we can give the ball to in the last 2 minutes and know he's going to get us a good shot and not turn it over. What place would we hold in the standings had we not choked away games in the last 2 minutes this year? I think he will be that guy by his mid-20's, but it sure would be nice to see it sooner.

I really wanted Garland to take another step as far as orchestrating goes. His assists are really good. I'd like to see him waste fewer possessions where he is dribbling in traffic or just calling his own number with few actions.

I am really not worried. He has had to adjust quite a bit to Mitchell, while still playing well and getting everyone involved. I think some pressure has been put on him to score, when it would really be better if he got more guys involved.

Seeing him not pass ahead is bothering me. He seems to be very reluctant to get it to Isaac on a semi break or with a clear path to basket. He has been reluctant to get it to shooters on time and on target on the 3 pt line and instead uses them as bail out passes. He should get it to them before he has to stop and pivot in the paint when defenders are already recovering. Just think some of his passes are later here.

Yeah he is 22, he is actually ahead of schedule. Steph Curry was literally not this good at Garlands age. Not taking as many 3's and about 2/3 as many assists.

We need some time for Donovan/Darius to cook. They are far from optimized together, but at least they are not the situation the Hawks are having right now. We have proof of concept. Doing the process work is the hard part and getting everything clicking hasn't really happened yet, and still they are the 5th seed.

Im watching some Garland highlights...and one thing I am noticing is he needs to speed up his release as well as not bring the ball so low. His release is perfect technique, however, it seems like he needs a lot of space to get his shot off. Something to tackle this offseason.

player rankings has dg over zach, jrue, tyresse, tyler and trae....only kyrie, harden and haliburton ranked above him as pgs...

now how much better wouldve dgs stats have been if he had a legit small forward alongside him since the beginning of the season instead of that shit offesive version of okoro and some guy that goes by the name of lamar stevens?...

and a healthy kevin love?

double digit assists?....

3-1 t/o ratio?

Does he make the all star game? Locks in the backcourt are Jaylen Brown(if he’s considered a sg) and Halliburton. I’m assuming Harden will make it to along with Embiid being a lock in the frontcourt

who cares?....dgs fukn legit.....the players themselves are telling you that....

all star dg and top ten mitchell

former all star in JA{barkley picked him as an all star this year} and future all star in mobely

top 3ish defense to go with top 10ish offense{celtics more or less in this same spot last year}

and the FO does nothing at the deadline?....not even something small to give the players hope?

i would be absolutely fukn amazed....

Obviously I care. And you’re the first and probably last person I’ll ever block with that fuckin gibberish . Goodbye my towel waving friend

He's fringe at best, but he's our best shot at a 2nd selection.

In the East we have the starters plus:

6. Embiid
7. Brown
8. Bam
9. Harden
10. Siakim
11. Halliburton
Plus Randle, Brunsen, Jrue, Butler, and Demar are in the mix possibly. It's a very competitive conference with at least 3 teams that seem like locks to get 2 selections (Brooklyn, Boston, Philly).

Given he's had to take a back seat to Mitchell and his early season injury, I'm not bothered. Garland is still efficient & smart with room to grow, he'll get himself back into that game. If/when this team blossoms into a real contender for the top seed, it will open up spots for our guys.

It's not entirely his fault. JBB wants him to initiate all the offense and Mitchell has been in his ear about being aggressive with scoring. Him and Mobley don't have the strength/bodies right now to do what they want to do on offense.

That will come though. When it does, it should be instantly noticeable and their efficiency should skyrocket to match the instincts they've been developing.

I have few complaints about Garland, especially on the offensive end. His numbers are up slightly in almost every category and he continues to develop nicely. The one that is down is where I have my biggest gripe - his assists are down slightly even though his usage is about the same (despite having Mitchell). He does not seem to to be distributing the ball as well in the half court. He's great in the open court. He's great at finding Allen and Mobley at the rim. But he regularly misses open shooters on the perimeter and he's been less than stellar at controlling possessions and making sure we get good shots in crunch time. I'm not down on him, but its one place he can improve. On a related note, our team assist number aren't what they ought to be either. Every true contender other than the Bucks has better assists numbers than us so it may be as much about the offense as it is Garland.

I would not be surprised if there is some hesitancy there simply because our shooting is pretty bad. We lost Lauri, who was a favorite target off the ball, and Love has looked awful for months.
