Denzel Valentine: Get lost

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He’s really not. At least Valentine has been shitty in the NBA and had college success.

LiAngelo was shitty in the summer league and hasn’t had any success since Chino.
He wasn’t shitty in summer league! A lot people said he showed flashes of potential!
Not saying he’s going to be a star in the NBA but he’s young, with length and height! He’s more than worth a flier on. Especially more so than somebody (Taco and Valentine) that have proven nothing during their time in the league!

I have never seen a player so resoundingly shit-canned here as Valentine has been. Even Anthony Bennett was given a lukewarm welcome compared to this. Love is given chance after chance.

What we know about Valentine is this. He had an extraordinary college career. His professional career blows. But he has had injuries, and missed a ton of time.
Word is now he's healthy. His competition on the Cavs is minimal. Can we at least see what he can bring to a new organization?

Or should we just boo when he is introduced?
I agree. We have nothing to lose, & we need a player like him next to Okoro.

Boo from day 1.
Why should he be booed. From all accounts he's a good kid (albeit will be 28 soon), hasn't caused problems, was a standout in college, and has some NBA skills although the little bit of athleticism he did have might be completely gone at this point..who knows. The kid has battled back from a nasty ankle injury. This is probably his last chance at any type of NBA contract.

If anything maybe Koby should be the one who gets booed for putting together another flawed roster? At some point he's going to need to address how all the talent fits. Maybe Mobley buys him some time to see which pieces will fit longterm. I'm assuming they end up with another top 10 pick next summer though.

LiAngelo Ball - 6-5 with 6-9 Wingspan
Denzel Valetine - 6-4.5 with 6-9.5 Wingspan

Denzel is not good. But trying to argue LiAngelo based on length and height is complete bullshit.

The depth and talent at wing was probably the biggest issue needing to be addressed in the offseason and to come away with just Valentine is on Koby. What I'm hoping is that we don't pass up making a waiver claim or trying to go for more wing talent when 15 man cuts happen because we have Valentine.

We need to go down every avenue to get more wing depth so I'm not against bring in Valentine but if he is the only addition then it's a failure on multiple levels by Koby to search for talent.

My bad….I read an article that listed him at 6’7. He’s only 6’5?

Espn has him at 6'4

Y’all get way too bent out of shape about end of roster players on a non-contender who probably won’t be on the roster long term. Yeesh.

Agree...I guess you can criticize Koby for not prioritizing wing players, but there has been a strong lack of actual suggestions as to who he could have gotten. Every team in the league wants 2-way wing players. And no one has criticized his draft picks in a vacuum.

Also, best case scenario is that one or more of these things happen: Windler has a redemption year, Okoro continues to mature and proves capable of being a 3, and Cedi goes back to high 30's in 3pt percentage.

I would rather any one of those things happen (and giving the guys the chance to make it happen) than signing a guy who might give us 8ppg instead of 6ppg.

Not to mention Lauri probably getting minutes at the 3, Llamar being an adequate 3-4 guy for depth, maybe even Mobley getting time at the 3. Or fuck it stick Tacko there.

Why should he be booed? Cause the dude that sells me my cell phones dogwalks Denzel on his days off. #CanYouHearMeNow

He was shitty in summer league. He was just a name people recognized so they latched on to every decent thing he did.

Denzel’s NBA numbers are actually better than LiAngelo’s summer league line.

A GM should always be seeking to improve the talent on his team; with a focus on the team becoming a team that can win more and more. The end of the roster shouldn't be throw-away spots, but lottery tickets (developmental, vet culture guys, single-skill guys, etc). Valentine is none of those.

Guys they could've gone after instead: Svi, Servydas, James Ennis, Hutchison, Mathews, Gerald Green, etc.
