Denzel Ward

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I really wanted Chubb, and I’m sure Denver was overjoyed when we didn’t take him.

But this was my next preference so I’m pretty happy all things considered.

I really like this pick. I am not an OSU fan, so this has zero homerism on it.

I preferred Chubb, as I think he was the BPA, but I really thought Ward was 2nd best.

I also started to not like Minkah as much as he started to feel too much like Peppers being a hybrid which now scares me.

Wanted Chubb to possibly create a monster pass rush with MG and Chubb, force teams to use perhaps two doubles and tske out a TE because he’d have to chip if Chubb and MG live up to what they can be, but this is a very good pick.

I’m just glad we didn’t wind up with Barkley who will probably be good, but #2 is way too high for any RB as far winning impact is concerned not to mention how much money a #2pick gets that would be tied up in a low value position.

I was really big on the minkah train.

After watching his hips and quick movements in the drills at the combine compared to the other CBs? He really did look limited to the nickel or fs role. Not that that's bad, we just needed a outside CB really really badly and Ward won me over as my #1 cb

Outside CB Denzel was the best one, just stinks that in terms of talent he likely ranks behind Nelson, Smith, Chubb.

Was listening to NFL radio a while back and they had analytics guys on. They said that Ward was the highest ranked CB this year and it wasn't remotely close. They said he ranked out higher than Lattimore.

I love this pick.

I was on the chub train.. generally I am underwhelmed so far, but I am not burning jerseys

Chubb would have been a luxury pick for us. Nelson? He's a guard, we have plenty of good ones. Smith? Joe the show played too well to warrant us picking smith.

While I agree that those 3 guys are most likely ranked higher with the majority of teams, I rank players just as for us. At least this year I did

Exactly, I watched more Minkah tape and realized he was more safety than cb.

Joe the show plays like he’s running in quicksand and can’t cover a lick. We didn’t need another LB but smith would have been a huge upgrade.

No doubt that smith would have been awesome. Don't forget that Joe played outside backer in a 3-4 2 years ago and last season was his first playing inside in the 4-3. Showed tremendous growth in his 1st 2 years.

Yeah, if you don’t get the value for a trade down, fuck it take your guy. Don’t risk losing out on him just for the sake of moving down.

At least there’s that.

We’ve for years always traded down. While i would’ve taken Chubb it’s refreshing to make the pick and still get a great prospect.

Ogbah was a beast last year when healthy. Just need him to stay on the field.

Yeah, I'm guessing they tried but the only offers were too far down.

Would have sucked to trade down and miss out on all the blue chippers of this draft.

I don't get the hate, Denzel Ward is a legitimate top-5 talent at a premium position.

Ward just turned 21 and is already one of most athletic corners in the league (140.2 SPARQ score, 98.8 percentile). He's not tall, but he's got long arms (6'2 3/4" wingspan) and plays bigger than his weight.

He also has 2+ years of playing in a heavy press, man-to-man scheme that is exactly what he's going to be asked to do in the league. There's no projection- he's going to step in as our lockdown #1 corner that can run with any WR in the league- including Antonio Brown.

Can't wait to see the battles between the two over the next few years.
