Dilfer Wants Out

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Bernie Kosar was probably the most accurate QB in the history of the NFL, he also played with very good RBs and had a good defense.

Kosar was there to manage the game, which he was great at because he had the intangiables to do so. The man was one of the smartest QBs out there. His lack of arm strength wasnt a negative because he could tear you apart in the middle of the field.

An you honestly think that the front office wants Frye to "take over games." Thats not what I want out of Frye. Frye has these intangibles and has a ways to go.

With our passing attack, Braylon, Joe and Winslow and without a game breaking RB, he is going to have to.

We don't have a defense that will win us games and Rube isn't going to change anybodies defense to adjust to him so Frye is going to have to show the ability that he can get the LBs and safties off the line of scrimmage with his ability to pass the ball. He cant throw over the top, we know that for a fact. But he can improve his button hooks, slants, and outs and utilize the TE better.

He is going to have to take the pressure off Rube, because he isnt going to beat anybody with his feet.

With a better line Rube will be a better back though.

There is no doubt that he has to play better than what he did, one half will not cut it.

I think that when Edwards/Winslow develope they will make up for not having that great quaterback or runningback by making a big play out of something little.

I dont disagree with that, but we need a running attack that will benefit the QB. Rube isnt going to do anything for Charlie because neither scare the defense.

What happens is when we face good teams, they will refer to the Pittsburgh game, line up and go for the kill because neither is a threat to hurt them.

True, but we didnt have Bentley, which wont make Rube run faster but it will help.

Thing is Mack and Byner werent game breakers, Metcalf was but he didnt play that much and he fumbled a lot.

Id put money on the defense, and have above average qb and runningback. The steelers dont have a great runningback, but they sure as hell get the job done.

The Steelers rely on their great defense to win, not their offense scoring.

Rube is a "time of posession back" Keeps our defense off the field and gets the 1st downs we need. It may not sound like last year but last years line included Jeff Faine :thumbdown

I think the offense will be greatly improved obviously and it will give Charlier more time to make decisions and more blocking for Rube which will in turn take pressure of Chahlie.

There's nothing wrong with Jeff Faine, he is a solid center will be a ten year NFL starter. He wont dominate like Bentley will, but our problem on the line last year was at the guard and LT spot.

We are still weak at the guard and LT, Coleman and Druzzi cant play the whole game and our depth is horrible.

How could you say that there was nothing wrong with Faine, he got hurt every year he played with the Browns. Which is the reason why hes not on the team anymore.

Hes not on the team anymore because he is too small to anchor an OL in this division.

So then theres something wrong with him.

He didnt fit the system, that doesnt mean he isnt talented or wasnt good.

You said there wasnt something wrong with him, and now you say he didnt fit the system. If he didnt fit the system there was something wrong with him.

Bentley can play center in any system in the NFL, because hes a stud.

If Faine had Bentleys frame he would probably be the better player. His technique is awesome but going against Hampton and Kemoeatu technique is thrown out the window when your giving up 50 pounds to them.
