You make it sound like Barnes doesn't play defense. While,Mobley is the better defender by a small margin; Barnes play good defense too. What separates Mobley and Barnes is that Barnes has a more polished offensive game than Mobley. Mobley and Barnes will probably be the best two players in their draft....imo
I think Scottie is a fine defender, but I don't think it's quite comparable at this point, at least not on the impact side of things. I don't mean to take away from Scottie at all, he's fantastic, could prove to be the best overall player from the draft, but there are probably 4 or 5 people that it's not completely unreasonable to suggest they could.

It's this hour long videos of highlights of xavs players from this season. The channel is called, it's cavaliers podcast. Got an hour long Mobley highlight video. That's good stuff.

Got a link to the video?

It's funny because earlier in I believe this very same thread someone posted a link to a Raptors forum, making fun of them for whining about Mobley getting recognition

Y'all salty AF

Scottie is a fine player and we all knew Mobley was the biggest project and the most long-term investment. Everyone thought he was the steal of the draft but not as many thought he was clear cut RoY material.

I get it. I remember watching Barnes' FSU tape before the draft and coming away feeling like he could be Kawhi with a better offensive game. His defensive versatility and awareness for someone that young was extremely impressive. Was an elite facilitator for his size. He was kind of similar to Mobley in that he looked like someone still growing into his body, and that once he got stronger and learned how to harness his athleticism his game can go to a totally different place. You could tell he wasn't all that comfortable shooting the ball, but his shot wasn't broken. His raw numbers didn't look as good as the other players simply because he didn't play the same number of minutes as Cunningham, Suggs, Mobley, etc.

I thought they could both be 1st team defense / DPOY candidates on a regular basis. I would assume that if the players were flipped we'd feel the exact same way we feel about Barnes as most Cavs fans currently do about Mobley.

Mobley probably has a slightly higher ceiling simply due to his size, but Barnes has all the physical tools and ability to develop into an MVP caliber player as well. As much as I like Mobley, at this point I can't definitely say that Lauri / Mobley / Allen is a better front court than Barnes / Lauri / Allen. The Garland/Barnes/Lauri/Love/Allen lineup would've been a nightmare to try and defend.

I'm thrilled with Mobley, but both buys still have loads of untapped potential. It's going to be a while before we have any idea who the better player actually is, and it's possible both guys reach their peak and there's still not a clear answer to who is better.

Agreed. Mobley is fantastic but can't undermine Barnes. They'll easily be the 2 best players of their draft class.

I would love to know if the Raps would trade Barnes for Mobley straight up. We know they wanted to before the draft. One of those things we could never find out.

Thing is Barnes way over-achieved so he deserves the recognition. Mobley did as well, but a lot of pundits said he would be the best guy in a couple years from the draft, so being a top player right away isn't crazy. I think his defensive impact was crazy tho.

Really interesting how the Marvin Williams/Dion Waiters "never draft a 6th man from college" didn't apply to Barnes at all.

No way the raptors would trade Barnes for Mobley.

He's not the better player now. In time we will see. He's got a huge advantage with his ceiling being 7 feet tall, but these guys are neck and neck and work ethic is what will separate them.
