this is why I would have liked to trade him as soon as possible. Because if he exhibits more of the current version of his game, his trade value plummets down the drain. Instead of someone like Trey Murphy/Keegan Murray as a return we will probably settle with Cam Johnson value for him.
We could've got royce O'Neal back what a missed chance

It’s so refreshing seeing other fans finally opening their eyes to Mobley. I feel such relief & satisfaction. I’m gonna sleep like a baby tonight.

Big game for Mobley tomorrow with our superstar sidelined. This is called a statement game. Let’s see what this kid is made of god damn it…

Time to man up

Dude lots of people have been pointing these things out longer than you have, with more detail. You were just the most over the top anti-Mobley ranter, doesn’t mean you’re the only one who saw offensive side problems
Bullshit. I’ve been on his ass since about 20 games into his rookie season. I noticed things about his approach to the game, body language, & timid behavior that I felt were simply part of his nature.

Again, he isn’t trash. But I knew he was pretty average the moment I watched his inability to dribble or shoot a basketball. Most non Cavs fans think he kinda sucks. It’s only in this forum where he is considered a future phenom.

Mobley has a .177 ws/48. Compare that to Wemba, who has a far lower number, you see how usage matters.

I think if you think Mobley is done growing, I got another thing coming for you. The Cavs need to put the ball in the man's hands and it be dies he dies. Better than watching Garland try and draw fouls late in the game.

Brudder, no. Before he even stepped foot in summer league I broke down his college game tape play by play and expressed every single concern we still have today.

The difference between other Mobley skeptics and you is that you are here admittedly "sleeping like a baby" because of his lack of success, and that is fucking lame. You would rather be "right" than have the team be successful. Congrats. That is a one way ticket to GTFO.

He's still one of the best defenders in the league and competent at a range of offensive aspects, basically a "rim runner" type except he can do it pick and roll in the half court. True we would have gotten a better return trading him last year when there were superstar expectations but I think he's still correctly viewed as a very good player.

he has shown more than a rim runner. It's letting him using that skill set night in and out no matter if it falls at the moment.

I mean, Ben Wallace is hall of famer and didn't have close to Mobley's offensive game now, not saying he's Ben, but I think it's safe to say Mobley can have that impact on defense and already better on offense. I think fairly weak argument to say he's limited to average player at this point. He hasn't been average since he entered the league. Though he may never make it to superstardom...not many do. And that's a shame if he doesn't, cause we still don't really have one, though Mitchell flirts with it.

You’re really going with these comparisons from 20 to 30 years ago with Mobley.

He’s not Kevin Garnett nor is he Ben Wallace

He’s isn’t Dikembe Mutombo or Tyson Chandler or Marcus Camby…

Again, if we are going that route we are looking at a Charles Smith, Theo Ratliff or if we are lucky a Serge Ibaka and that’s about where we are plateauing with this kid….

Which, again, is fine— but we were hoping for much more (and needed much more) and he’s been a disappointment thus far given those expectations…

Love Evan, but I have never seen Evan Mobley consume food the way Ben Wallace did that first night. We are not talking about the same animal let alone a different beast.

EM has been hyped as a franchise cornerstone 'unicorn' since he was drafted.

He has improved since then, no doubt.

Promises, promises.

But 185 games into his NBA career, it would be encouraging to see him have
more minutes and entire games when he clearly is dominating and the difference
maker.

I will admit my Cavs perspective is askew as a result of the NYK disaster.

I just realized that Evan has an awkward combination of body type, skills, and mindset. He is a tall, skinny dude who in theory should have developed a better offensive game especially shooting. If we dissect his forays to the basket he always wants to attack the rim for a dunk or a layup. Rarely do I see him finish with finesse (short hooks, floaters, etc) and if he tries it is usually a miss.

Defensively, he is good as a perimeter defender and blocking shots but he is also weak and soft in the interior. Bump him some and you could have an easy layup. He is also a weak “contested” rebounder. Thus, he cannot really be your anchor on the defensive end.

In essence, he is a big who is solely an inside player offensively while best as a perimeter defender. I have not seen anybody like that. LOL.

Nothing fills me with more smug satisfaction than having a player on my favorite team suck as much as I hoped he would.
