From Yardbarker regarding the Rockies:

The MLB roster is completely devoid of any sort of impact talent and has few long-term building blocks. Only one player on the roster this season is projected to have a WAR of 2.0 wins this season, and that is outfielder Nolan Jones. A 2.0 WAR is nothing more than a league-average player.

With Mejia and Haase being released, Owen Miller and Oscar Gonzalez sent to the minors, and Mike Clevinger and Zach Plesac out of baseball, I wouldn't say that "ex-Guards are the best Guards". Cal Quantrill allowed five runs in five innings in his first start for Colorado.

But Luke Maile hit a two-run homer for the Reds yesterday, Carlos Santana is starting at first base for the Twins, and Lindor is still a star. Nolan Jones and Will Benson are starting for their teams.

The Tampa Bay Rays in particular are doing very well with ex-Guards. Aaron Civale allowed one run in six innings in his first start this year. Yandy Diaz is 5-for-12 with five RBI's. Amed Rosario is 3-for-5.

Some guys are doing all right. Yandy is going into his 6th year with the Rays and is still making us regret the Jake Bauers deal. Yandy is 32 and will probably continue to twist the knife for a couple more years and probably more.
