Ex Indians update

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Also I expect Nolan to steal (or at least try) a lot more bases going forward, like Owen Miller has done for Milwaukee.

As a Brewer, Owen Miller has 9SB/1C in 49 games a steal every 5.444 games. For Cleveland in 190 games he had 4SB/0CS which is 1 every 47.5 games, Only a slight difference lol.

He seemed like a good athlete to me for such a big kid when I saw him last year.

Haven’t seen a single game of his in Colorado to this point so I have no idea what they’re asking him to do. But I can see him stealing some bases, especially with the new rules.

I really liked him because he reminded me of Von Hayes, who I was really sad to see traded.

Nolan Jones with a 3-3 night, average up to .366. Hopefully this kid blows up!
This is where I’m different then most fans, I have nothing against any ex Cleveland Athletes, but I never want them to succeed more then when they were playing for us…..That’s why when everything is said and done Jose Ramirez might become my favorite Cleveland Sport Athlete of all time……

I think what you have against them is their success in other situations other than Cleveland.

I can understand that viewpoint if the player asked (via words or actions) to be traded or left via free agency.

The case for Nolan Jones is not either of those. The team determined he was no longer in the plan moving forward and it moved him in trade to recoup some of the value. If Nolan does well it goes as a cautionary tale for the CLE FO. If he flops, it re-enforces the CLE FO made the right call & the battle plan they have crafted.

I once saw a player named Barry Bonds in Pittsburgh…. Nolan Jones gives me Barry Bonds vibes

Nolan Jones with a walk off HR today for the Rockies. Happy for him, upset we never gave him a chance here.

You can’t ignore the production too.

.986 OPS production this season so far. Pushing .800 OPS production through his first 150 MLB at bats. You can’t ignore the strikeouts, but you can’t ignore the production when he doesn’t strikeout too.
Jones has a .483 BABIP in Colorado and a 31.5% K rate.

For comparison, the highest career BABIP since 1945 is Rod Carew's .359. Lets say that Jones is the next Carew. What would that do to his production?

Jones ain't Rod Carew.

His present production is not nearly as important going forward as his underlying numbers. So, yes, I'm ignoring his production in an extremely small sample size.

However, whether Jones has a productive career or not is beside the point. The point is that the FOs mismanagement of its upper level prospects and the 40 man roster has forced it to give away multiple youngsters that may have a MLB future.

We hear apologists claim that the FO tried to make trades, but other teams wanted too much. So, instead, we give away youngsters.

Kids...like Jones, Miller, Vargas, and Nelson...all had trade value at one time, in some cases, significant trade value. The sum total of return for those four was two A ball prospects.

I’m not agreeing or disagreeing, but how can you harp on his strikeout rate over those same small sample of at bats to make your argument then turnaround and say you are going to ignore the actual production over that same small sample of at bats?

This just comes off like you’d prefer to be right than have an actual conversation.

I do think Nolan Jones’ floor is Rod Carew.

Ceiling is Ted Williams.

Also in 15 games Nolan Jones has 4SB/0CS.

He's going to 20/20 or more at this rate.
