Farewell, Timofey Mozgov

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Well, at least there's a stated reason now..
Tristan Thompson’s move into the starting lineup is permanent, Lue said. After alternating between Timofey Mozgov and Thompson for much of the regular season, Lue moved Thompson back into the lineup for Saturday’s loss to the Bulls and said Monday that’s the lineup he’ll use in the postseason.

It’s a move that was long expected. Part of the reason Lue went away from Thompson as his starter was a fear he was wearing down against bigger centers during the grind of the regular season. But with no back to backs and extra off days during the playoffs, that isn’t as much of a concern.

Andre Drummond is licking his chops.

It will be hard to win conference in the play off without last season's Timofey

Timofey, we weren't the ones that benched you. Don't take it out on us.

All evidence suggests that the Cavs are much better starting Thompson than starting Mozgov. I just posted this in another thread, but according to Lowe (as of March 29th), the Cavs are minus 9 with Mozgov and the other starters, and have been destroying the league with Thompson and the other starters.

It's Playoff time now...you simply can't afford to start a player that is 77 out of 78 amongst centers in RPM with the hopes that he finds his form somehow. The presence of Frye off the bench and the fact that LBJ is best at PF make Mozgov even unnecessary against most opponents (you really only need one center off the bench if LBJ is going to play significant minutes at the 4, as he probably will). The other issue is that most teams the Cavs face will play an uptempo game that's more suited to Thompson. Best to use Mozgov situationally off the bench against certain matchups.

Well if this is how we're gonna be using Mozgov he's certainly not gonna get any kind of lucrative or even decent contract next year. It's such a shame we couldn't move him at the deadline. Depending on the needs of other teams there's a decent chance he signs with someone else and we walk away with nothing.

Remember, we gave up 2 first round picks to get this guy.

If by decent chance, you mean 100% chance, yeah.

Mozgov is a white, 7 foot equivalent to Dion Waiters it is what it is.

I just want to know what became of the 2 1st rounds we sent to Denver.

Neither conveyed last season.

The Memphis pick won't convey again this season(only protected top 5 next season).

The Thunder pick will convey to the 76ers, projected as the 27th overall pick(could possibly be the 26th pick).

I think we found Mozgov posting in this forum. @Ben @MoFlo

And it was all worth it. I'd do it again if we could repeat last season's experience.

The Cavs have been allowing more and more points in the paint and at the rim over the last 3-4 weeks. Giving teams easy shots tends to bite you in the ass in the playoffs.

Exactly my point. Moz is our rim protector. He has the length even if he doesn't have the conditioning right now.. that would've came with experience like Kyrie's doing.. I think.

Too late now. Seems Lue wants to sink or swim with TT. Well OK.

I was okay with Timo starting. He does better there than off the bench, as long as they don't try to do stuff like run plays for him. I do think TT did way better coming off the bench, even if he got the majority of the minutes. Otherwise, hes just going to wear down. Last season, Timo was so good too, I just have no idea sometimes
