I'm tagging @godfather since he posts in every thread about how horrible and unthinkable it is that Lue is starting Thompson for the playoffs.;) On the one hand I get the argument that Thompson does more damage late when he plays less minutes off the bench. But you can't start the Mozgov lineup in the Playoffs if it has a net negative rating.

The series vs. Detroit is a good time to get Timo some burn against Drummond -- whether Timo is struggling or not, we're going to need him at some point in the playoffs. Detroit would be a good time to get his confidence back against a team that we will likely beat regardless of how he plays.

I'm not sure Mozgov ever fully recovered from the injury to one knee, and losing Blatt in effect took out his other leg. Since his hands stink, the man just can't play right now.

He looks demoralized and tentative out there. The right coach / team could fix that, but at this time we don't qualify and it's not the time to fix this.

My concern is that we will need to insert him at some point in the playoffs and the pressure will have him playing as badly or even worse than he's already played.

Big men need a lot of TLC and support - Moz even more so. Unfortunately he's a bad fit for us. Too bad because I really like Moz.

I remember last year when T Mo came on board and the first game I think was against GS and he was kicking ass grabbing boards, scoring on put backs, running the floor. Damn that T Mo made such a difference.

Then in the playoffs against the Bulls I remember when T Mo was killing it and got so hype on the court in Chicago on some plays it was great to see. The guy was so good last year.

Really frustrating to see what happened this year and losing him for nothing after dumping two first rounders just adds salt to the round.

He will really need to play well next time Lue gives him a shot

We can't play TT 40 minutes or he will not be effective in the 4th. He's an energy player, he needs to be down around 30 minutes maybe. So if Mozgov can't play, who else will step up in the frontcourt?

I think that means Mozgov has to play.

I'm trying to imagine Channing Frye on Andre Drummond or Hassan Whiteside and I can't.
Tristan is a disaster on Drummond. Usually TT has an athleticism advantage, but he can't run around Drummond. And he's too short to bother Drummond in any way. I despise TT guarding Drummond. So I'm not sure if Channing Frye is worse. I love Moz in this matchup. He doesn't need to leave the paint and he has the length to bother Drummond.

That said, TT often shows up in the playoffs in ways I don't expect.

“Mozgov had a bad knee and he shouldn’t have started the season when he did,” ESPN’s Brian Windhorst said during his weekly radio show ‘Hey Windy’ on ESPN 1540 KNR2 in Cleveland. “He should have been more worried about rehabbing his knee.

“The surgery that they performed last summer was not a success but he felt pressure to play really well because he saw a massive paycheck coming his way. It was the combination of worrying about the contract and an unhealthy knee and a changing role on the team that all contributed to him having a down year.”

I heard this. I think the medical staff thought he just needed to push through the pain and get some reps in. Seems like maybe there was something else there that wasn't right. Hard to see. Hopefully, Moz is feeling better now.

He is really one of the few centers that tristan cannot seem to manage. He did better in of the games this year enough that I was surprised, but Drummond is like Tristan in an actual center's body. That is bad news because their strengths are very similar, but Drummond has a tremendous physical advantage. Tristan can still outwork guys, so let's hope so. I think Moz is going to be important too.

I have called Drummond the most fully realized version of Tristan, but of course he is substantially worse at shooting.
