Fire Mike Longabardi !!!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Well, part of being an NBA coach is to get NBA players to listen to you. And he was obviously utterly incapable of relating to the players. People may hate the fact, but it's a players' league and coaches need to be able to deal with that.

Agreed, and hope I didn't imply otherwise.

But it's also disappointing because he was known as a player's coach overseas. Just didn't work out that way in the NBA.

Ok, but if he doesn't have the personnel, shouldn't he try, I don't know, something else? Something better suited to the personnel he does have?

But we have tried different things in the regular season the last 2 season, none of which have worked to this point.

We can't play defense the way we do in the playoffs all season long. We iced PnRs under Blatt in the regular season and dared teams to beat us from the mid range when we got Timo, which worked...but other than that brief stretch, before the discovery of the nothing but switching, hedging, and recovering defense we used in the playoffs that year and have used in the playoffs every year since, we haven't found a scheme that works in the regular season...and if you've watched the games the past 2 years, you've seen quite a few different defensive styles, so it's not like they aren't trying.

Hard for any defensive scheme to look good when the majority of your team half-asses it on that end for most of the regular season...

I keep reading the title of this thread in the Cavs section and saying to myself "Mike Lobardi still works for the Browns?"

I can't be the only one.

I just see "Fire ..." and assume it's someone with the Browns. Because everyone with the Browns should be fired. From the top down.

I keep seeing this repeated all over the place and I just wanted to set the record straight that this is not accurate. First of all, Longabardi started working in Phoenix well after David Griffin left. Griff was already in the Cavs FO by then.

Griff can be blamed for a lot of things, but Longabardi is not one of them. Longabardi was 100%, and I mean 100% a Ty Lue decision. They worked together and had a working relationship on the coaching staff in Boston, and Lue has complete faith and trust in him, which boggles my mind as much as anybody. But he’s not getting fired, and the only way he goes is if Lue goes too.

Thanks for clarifying. Now that I think about, I think he was fired from PHX. The Lue connection makes sense though.

I blame the fans !!!

We got more fans yelling out racial insults to Patty Mills (that was not cool @gourimoko ) than fans starting a fire Mike Longabardi chant..

We need to start a movement !!!

We start with Twitter !! Everybody who has an on-air personality must know... We follow that up with signs and shirts and marches... We make fear mongering threats... Chain ourselves to the free stamp !!!

This must end !! He must go !!!

While I agree in principal, it would be really difficult to create a chant with his name.

That ‘a’ in there makes for a 4 syllable last name so it should roll off the tongue.. Whereas if it was Lombardi it wouldn’t be so catchy..

Fire Long-A-Bar-di !!!!

That's if you're just saying the name.

Try saying the "fire" before and it just doesn't work.

Fire Longo is the only way to do it. Then again, the Cavs' FO might think having a nickname is a big deal and hold onto him. Can't let this putz get any street cred.

True... That is a nicely rounded 6 syllable chant.
