Browns analytics department recommended current Vikings OC for head coach over Freddie Kitchens

It's "sauces" but DePodesta apparently wanted Kevin Stefanski. The leaks are starting to flow again.

This is not only old news but it was reported right after we hired Freddie. This isn't a leak. It's a hit piece.

I fucking knew it.

Freddie was probably never Dorsey choice, but Haslam meddled again and picked another shit Coach instead of sitting back and letting the GM handle business.

Haslam sucks. He already let us sit and stew with Hue for years.

I believe this report 100%. Haslam can’t seem to get out of his own way. Move bitch!

Johnny Manziel
Hue Jackson
Freddie Kitchens

Get the fuck out of the way, Haslam. You are not equipped for making major decisions. That’s why you have an analytical department to help.

Haslam will be the DEATH of the Browns.

I don't think an analytics team recommendation absolves a true-blue, football guy like John Dorsey of blame at all.

You know this information has been available since right around when we hired Kitchens, right? And that Dorsey isn't a part of the Browns' analytics team?

Not that I expect rationality from you to begin with.

Did you read the article? The owner will always trump the GM. This isn’t the first time Haslam interjected and give us a shitty Coach. Sorry. I blame Haslam 100%

I’m not buying what your selling.

Could you provide links?

Edit: nvm

The article is less than reputable, and not really worth the time.

I'm not sure that you read the article...

1. The owner does "trump" the GM, but the GM wanted Kitchens, according to this piece.
2. That would mean Haslam didn't "interject," but instead went with Dorsey's recommendation.

I did, and strangely Dorsey isn't mentioned at all despite the fact that we've heard in the past that he was 100% on board with Kitchens. We've also heard this entire story already months ago and people are only bitching now because Kitchens didn't work out. The bulk of this board was pro-Kitchens too.

You heard it. I asked for links and nobody provided anything. This is the first time I'm reading it.

I never wanted Freddie Kitchens. I don't care about the bulk. I have my own opinion.

Do you have any links about this being reported months ago?

That decision in January to promote the first-time play caller to the head coaching position was not universally championed within the front office, and sources said Haslam once again went against the recommendation of the organization's analytics department in opting to hire Kitchens.

The analytics department isn't the GM.

From...the same article:

Kitchens had strong internal support within the football operations department due to his great work with quarterback Baker Mayfield, the first-overall pick, in the second half of 2018.

No surprise that La Canfora framed that story in a way that completely absolves his fellow Maryland native, John Dorsey.

Truly don't understand how someone can write an article like that and not even mention the GM by name or where he stood on the hire.

Definitely makes it feel like a hit piece.
