Poor play calling. Team has 0 discipline.

Kitchens talked a big game for months but looked incredibly overwhelmed today. Let’s hope he adjusts and has the team ready for next week.

Quick hitting stuff today was generally working, minus that one terrible out throw Baker had. But it seemed like we were just really pressing from a play calling perspective. Trying too hard to hit big, long developing plays, with an offensive line that wasn’t very good. Needed more shallow stuff in space.

Sometimes you can get away with long shots but only if you pound the ball on the ground and set up play action. Chubb getting 16 carries was horrendous, especially when you consider he got a couple of them just to get them game over with.

Not sure how a team can look so in sync to open the game ad then just be an unmitigated disaster for the rest of the game.

I’m not impressed with Freddie’s answers postgame. He said they’re not going to change anything as coaches regarding the penalties, downplaying everything saying it’s just one game, and shifting responsibility saying the blame belongs to everybody.

Freddie might have to give up play calling. Even the best coordinators suck at play calling when they become HC.

Special mention goes to the fact that we trailed 12-6 at halftime and still came out like shit. No serious adjustments, no fire, nothing. Pathetic.

Their drive to make it 15-13 was very good.

From there on out, it was a steaming pile of dogshit on both sides of the ball.

I think Freddie has a catch 22 with his play calling. The team is so top heavy at the skill positions that one injury to one of the starters and there is a massive drop off to the guys behind him. The quick hitters, screens, etc that a team would run when they have a questionable O-line like ours, puts wear and tear on skill position players and just puts them in risky positions.

Now with Higgins and Hillard hurt, there will be alot more questions on how they will want to use our starters. We don't want to lose OBJ, Jarvis, Chubb, or Njoku because there isn't really a decent backup for any of them on the roster. I think the plan was try to limit Chubb's touches until Hunt came back then he could confidently unleash both of them down the streak.

This is why I was a fan of the Braxton Miller pick up because he could be a disposable player that was shifty that could help stretch the field horizontally with screens, quick hitters, and drag routes. He was a player that could help balance out some of the play calling to keep the stars healthy for crunch time in games and down the stretch of the season. I feel like Hillard was one of those disposable players in the eyes of the coaches but I don't think they expected him to be knocked out so quickly. Maybe Taywan Taylor another when he gets up to speed.

Braxton hasn't proven any of these things.

Hillard hadn't either. I think Braxton could have given enough that it helped us save the stars. Braxton isn't a replacement level player for one of our starter but I think he is a low level rotation player that gets 15 or so snaps a game. Just let him take those hits for 5+ yard gains.

Taywan Taylor wasn't even active and I don't think Hodges even got into the game. Same goes for Ricky Seals-Jones and Pharaoh Brown.

I think we need some usable rotational depth now more than ever because Higgins and Hillard might be out for a couple game.

I’m barely certain Miller has been a practice squad player to this point.

Were he not a Buckeye, he wouldn’t even be in the conversation.

Though I do understand the need for a player of a high caliber being used as a gadget player.

Miller just ain’t it.

It's slim pickings at this point or even at the time Braxton was picked up. I thought it was a good pick up to give him a chance to prove himself until Callaway came back. They will most likely have to open up a roster spot for Callaway when he can come back. That spot was always going to be some sort of audition spot vs a long term prospect.

Dorsey and Freddie will have figure out something this week to open up the playbook but not extra wear and tear on our stars. The O-line just isn't up to par and we will have to wait to see if Robinson gets an addition suspension. Can Johnson and Taywan Taylor get up to speed and pick up the slack if Higgins and Hillard are out?
