freddie is in over his head and it shows.

lots of fouls, poor play calling, not understanding to challenge calls.....

he was rocking it last year with the play calls, and he needs to start there, because the rest of this mess is a disaster.

He’s 2 games into his career as a head coach. And we saw improvement from week 1 to week 2.

Players aren’t the only ones who have a learning curve. Let’s give him a chance to figure this out.

He does seem over his head, but he improved and we had only 8 penalties.

I am willing to go more than 2 games while criticizing some, but more trying to figure out where he can improve.

I like the idea of working the play calling more. I think a big issue is not having a healthy array of tight ends. Freddie loves tight ends (insert gay joke)....but this game David went down with a concussion, hopefully next week all 3 are healthy and available and we can see some 12 personell for him to play with and be more creative.

A big part of the problem is Baker is getting the playcall way too late. He kept snapping with three or less seconds left. He doesn’t have time to make pre-snap reads AND the defense knows when the ball is getting snapped.

That slip screen to Chubb, where Landry was motioned into the backfield was a really, really nice play. Could've potentially gone the distance had Chubb not gotten stuck behind Hubbard

But yeah, to echo others, play calling has me frustrated. Late snaps, Baker 15 yards deep into the pocket, looking downfield very frequently, etc.

I know he wanted out and the Browns got good compensation for Duke, but it would be nice to have him back there in place of D'Ernest. Seems like he got quite a few snaps last night.

Guy has half a season as a coordinator under his belt. There was always going to be a learning curve for him.

Very large improvement in the team's discipline compared to week 1.

Guilty pleasure -- I enjoyed the 20 year old clip they showed last night of Kitchens getting sacked by Booger. That was some good archival film work. Had too look up why they called him Booger though.

McFarland received his distinctive nickname during his childhood. He was a self-described "bad kid" since he was two years old. His bad behavior prompted his mother to call him "booger," for which he was teased by his sister. When his friends heard his sister calling him "booger," they started teasing him with this nickname as well. The culmination of McFarland being a "bad kid" happened when he set fire to his family's trash pile while his mother was away, nearly burning down the house.
That's why my parents never kept the family trash pile close to the house. Wait. We didn't even have a family trash pile. We each had our own personal trash piles. I know. Such privilege likely reduced our family bonding. And to this day, we still have our butler ignite our trash fires for us. Anyway ...

Coaching looked a better last night, but so far this season it doesn't look like the same guy is calling the plays. Maybe it has something to do with the new personalities incorporated in the off season. Maybe Baker is reaching. I also don't want to forget that the defense has some say in how well the offense executes. But I have not seen the "well oiled, yardage gaining machine" that I hoped to see this year and Baker isn't going to stay healthy if he's getting sacked that often for 14 more games.

Lets see how the team looks like now and compare it to week 8 and week 16 in a sense. To me Kitchens is learning and Mayfield is still a young QB and both need to make some adjustments and I think the 2nd half of the season will hopefully show growth and adjustments that this team has made and needs to make to be winners.

Big improvement from week 1 in all areas from Freddie, very nice to see. He's certainly still got work to do though with the playcalling. But this was a nice step in the right direction.

Look at all this fucking play action that made us SO SUCCESSFUL last season.

What the fuck happened to this offense???? It’s actually triggering as all hell to me to be honest.

Baker and Freddie both acknowledged this point after the Jets game.

The offensive struggles early are definitely attributed to the addition of Odell and Todd Monken as far as I'm concerned. The desire to make big plays has clouded our identity, and thankfully the leaders of our team seem to understand this and have pledged to fix it as soon as this week.

I trust they will

Among the many things I noticed in that video... If it was 2nd and 4, we were looking to pick up 4-6 yards - NOT 46 yards. Also, the 3 to 10 yard chunk plays were setting up the occasional big play.

This further reaffirms that the constant big play shots we're seeing are equal parts playcalling and Baker. Both the staff and Baker need to stop pressing and put together sustained drives.
