Game 1 | Cavs @ Celtics Oct. 28th, 8:00PM (ET)

Re: Season Opener | Cavs @ Celtics Oct. 28th, 8:00PM (ET)

LeBron looked like he took the Big Mac challenge tonight

Paul Pierce looked a lot quicker and a lot more determined, Bron still chokes at the line when it matters. This loss is on him and MB. Wally Sasha Boobie Lorenzen and Varejao for like 18 minutes...really?

Re: Season Opener | Cavs @ Celtics Oct. 28th, 8:00PM (ET)

I do think they need to bring Delonte off the bench so that the second unit has a floor general out there to run the offense.

Re: Season Opener | Cavs @ Celtics Oct. 28th, 8:00PM (ET)

I dont understand why he went to WHOLESALE SUBS. What exactly was the point of that. I know you want lebron to get rest and all but couldnt you play him a little longer than 36 min? If you woulda put LJ in against the Cs bench for 4 min we probably would have won.

Re: Season Opener | Cavs @ Celtics Oct. 28th, 8:00PM (ET)

wow, I am psyched we were that close when there were so many problems. Get real guys, the celts have the same starting lineup and similar rotations. We have a coach that unsuccessfully experimented tonight with some dumb shit lineups. However, MB will get better, he just isn't so good in game. He is probably watching the game for his 2nd time already right now. Bron didn't play well and we were close. Mo couldn't guard, and we were this close. We are going to wax some teams this year, albeit at first inconsistently, but we do have some promise, maybe even enough to make the finals.

LeBron needs to put in the work on his game so he can continue to develop...

Mid range game and FT's are his achilles heel and its been that way for the last 3 years

Your right... MB is TERRIBLE with in game situations. I MEAN HORRIBLE. He needs an ex-NBA coach on the bench next to him. Someone who has managed an NBA game before

If you guys believe lebron isnt out there shooting jumpers and fts all day give me a break, his mechanics are broken and at this point in his career he isnt about to reinvent himself.

Re: Season Opener | Cavs @ Celtics Oct. 28th, 8:00PM (ET)

We'll learn from today. Mo needs way more freedom and that will make the most difference.

Mo just wasnt able to do anything tonight, LeBron had the ball the whole time and when Mo did have the rock he just gave it up to Z. Im not sure if he had a bad ankle or somethin but damn.

We need Mo to be the amazing scorer that he is. Charlotte should be one of those games where we dominate and get crazy numbers.

Re: Season Opener | Cavs @ Celtics Oct. 28th, 8:00PM (ET)

Yeah. Mo never seemed to have the ball, unlike the preseason, that was disappointing.

Wanna know another reason we lost?

Assists
Mo Williams + Delonte West = 4 < LeBron = 6

Re: Season Opener | Cavs @ Celtics Oct. 28th, 8:00PM (ET)

Lebron needs to play more than 36 minutes. If Mike Brown wants to have him play less than 40 than we need to be blowing teams out not losing in the 4th quarter and having Lebron, Mo, and Z on the bench.

Mo played 31 minutes, he needs to play about 36,IMO. Our offense was the reason we lost (like always). It was awful watching the Cavs, there was no movement whatsoever, Every play was basically one on one.

I dont understand Why Delonte and Boobie were handling the ball when Mo was out there with either one of them. He is the big name point guard that we got to handle the ball. Lebron handled the ball as well, which is something he will do but Mo didn't do much handling at all.

Where was the Mo and Z, pick and pop? Where was Lebron setting up pics for Mo?
Why didn't Mo set up pics for Lebron so if they switched Mo could get more shots. Mo didn't come off screens.

I blame all this on MB. He needs to utilize these plays. Everyone in the Cavs organization bragged about these plays yet I didn't see any of it.

I am so disappointed. I know its just the 1st game and chemistry will take some time to build up on but we were just AWFUL OUT THERE.

Wally was attacked relentlessly. Mike Brown needs to handle the rotations better.
If West is going to start, Mo needs to handle the rock and West should just space out the floor. If the defender closes out on him fast than that is the only time West should put the ball on the floor.

I'm a tad concerned about the amount of time Z spent traveling, and falling over too..

Re: Season Opener | Cavs @ Celtics Oct. 28th, 8:00PM (ET)

I am a tad bit concerned with Z THINKING he can beat people off the dribble. What the hell was he thinking?

I could think of atleast 3 to 4 plays where Z got the ball and Lebron was wide open at about 12 feet or 15 feet away from the basket and he was ASKING for the ball each time but Z didn't want to pass it up. Lebron would've easily just went inside and hammered it.
Z hogs the ball everytime he gets it. He does not have a post up game he should only be utilized on pick and pop plays and needs to get his points from tip ins as well. The only time I want him posting up is when we play teams like the Wizards, the Heat, the Knicks, and just a couple of others.

It was a thing of beauty, up there with some of his all time best mind blowers. He sent Wally out there like a sacrificial lamb.

Re: Season Opener | Cavs @ Celtics Oct. 28th, 8:00PM (ET)

it's not the end of the world. it's tough playing the champs in their house, and we were in s a spot to win the game. i thin kwe'll get better on offense. it takes some time working together for things to get synched up.

what i liked:
we got two stops in a row at the end
outside of lebron, we shot free throws well
andy was active
in the first half our second unit increased the lead

what i didnt like
lebron wasnt on his game
offense still not in synch
mo got abused defensively
we had a horrible third quarter
not good chemistry between mo and lebron yet

the second unit for the cavs is VERY perimeter oriented. if the shooters aren't hitting, we'll have games like tonite. brown will likely be forced to stick mo on the second unit as well. he gives the cavs a better overall offensive player. teams should get after our second guards on the second unit. gibson isn't able to create on his own, so forcing him to be a pg rather than a shooter is a good strategy. that's why we'll need mo here.

i did like what lorenzen wright brought to the game. he can rebound and play smart to get a foul or two on their bigs. IMO, one of the strategies the cavs need to pursue is getting their bigs into foul trouble. doing that will open up things quite a bit for lebron and mo.

anyway, we didnt shoot well. lebron didn't play well. and we still almost beat the champs on their floor. not the end of the world.
