Game 2 | Bobcats @ Cavs Oct. 30th, 7:00PM (ET)

Re: Home Opener | Bobcats @ Cavs Oct. 30th, 7:00PM (ET)

Can we stop saying "it's Charlotte!" and "They're bad!"

A win is a win...I dont see the Celtics going, "Man who cares we beat [insert bad team here], that shouldn't count towards our win total because we can only feel good about beating teams on our level!"

Exactly -- I agree. Also -- there is arguably only one team in the East "at our level" -- so we should count every win. Besides, we lost to enough of these sorts of teams last year that we should be happy in that regard as well.

Re: Home Opener | Bobcats @ Cavs Oct. 30th, 7:00PM (ET)

It's not about our record. Nobody is trying to dispute whether or not we are .500. The point of contention is how well we can gauge our team with a home win against the Bobcats. We had some bad individual performances against a great team and some great individual performances against a poor team. Now things aren't all "sky is falling" like they were Tuesday, but...these were the Bobcats. Take it with a grain of salt.

It gives people something to bitch about i guess, the people tonight saying it was just Charlotte are the same people who were bitching after the Boston game saying it was just one loss lol...

I was neutral lol.... :chuckles:

Re: Home Opener | Bobcats @ Cavs Oct. 30th, 7:00PM (ET)

... So here I am, working late from home (in North Carolina) because my job expects me to do ungodly amounts of work... I finally finish, crack open a beer, and THE F-ING DVR DIDN'T RECORD THE GAME. I swear that Time Warner's HD cable boxes are the biggest pieces of shit in the world. I did, however, manage to get $50 off of my League Pass bill after sitting on hold for 30 mins. I'm sure none of you care, but good god did it piss me off when I didn't get my Cavs fix. Has anyone else had an experience like this?

Looking at the box score I'll say this:

1.) I still say Boobie has a good chance to win 6th man of the year if he gets the minutes and our record is good enough.
2.) Glad to see Mo getting the expected 17 and 7
3.) One of two things is happening with Lebron... Either he's "taking it easy" as some say he did 2 years ago following a summer USA b-ball gig, or (my opinion) this type of team gives you a glimpse of how Lebron could average a 24, 10, and 10 type of triple double over a season with the right teammates.

Always great to see Gibson on fire, but his Rip imitation coming off those screens was a nice surprise.

Mo did more than just put up 17 and 7 ... he ... did things offensively that we haven't seen any of LeBron's various supporting cast members over the years do. At the very least it looks like we finally have a second scoring option that can actually score and run a fast break.

Ben had the hair out and played well.

Z was defended well and his 18ft sweeping hook shot wasn't going in. I wish he could find a more consistent way to score in the post besides the put back. He surprisingly attempted a 3pt shot in the game. He was wide open but missed. I hope he tries more ...

So many good things tonight, so so many.
From Boobies big game to Hicksons huge dunk.
Great home opener, and only 30 minutes to the main man is always a plus.

Bring on New Orleans, I reckon LeBrons gonna turn it up HUGE, will be good to see how Mo fairs against an elite PG on defence, IF he takes him.

Re: Home Opener | Bobcats @ Cavs Oct. 30th, 7:00PM (ET)

I was really impressed at how the cavs turned it up in the 4th by SHOCK actually running sets instead LeIso. That whole mo bron pick and pop to Z in the corner was hilarious, but oculd be deadly if Z gets his spacing right.

The thing the cavs seemed to have ironed out at practice was close outs and defensive rotations. The help cam fast and was effective 11 blocks is a huge number for a team like the cavs.

I think MB got his rotations a bit better and i loved how in the 4th he called a play for JJ shame he bounced his defender out and got called for the offensive foul.

The next game will give us a chance to see what the cavs can really do.

Delonte west get caugh flat footed on the kick out and so his triples keep hitting front rim, he needs to be ready to score against NO to stretch the defense.

Anyone else think Lebron would shoot a higher FT % if he just kept his eyes on the rim??

The Bulls won their first three championships with Michael Jordan shooting 31.2%, 27.0%, and 35.2% from the three point line. He was 27-29 years old during that time. This means his athleticism must've lasted him enough, seeing as though he wasn't that great of a mid-long range jump-shooter and flat out couldn't shoot the three (which was even shorter back then). Michael's final championship with the Bulls came in 1997-98, when he was 34 years old and shot 23.8% from 3. Please stop trolling these boards with your Phil Jackson propaganda, looking for shock-factor.

What are you smoking? Jordan was a great midrange jump shooter by this time of his career.

Does a sniper look at the ground then glance at the target through a scope at the last second? No, so why does LeBron think he should? He will never be good at free throws until he focuses on the rim for a few seconds before shooting.

Both of you guys hit the bullseye with that...

We didn't even beat bad teams like this last year. We couldn't get a A blowout to save our lives. Every game was close. So to blow this team out have 3 or 4 other guys having major contributions and Lebron's minutes limited is good. It is very good.

Thats what was lacking..a player that could run the point, set others up and get his own shot.
Z doesn't need a sweeping hook...a short jump hook would be effective..
Not if you want some effectiveness MB needs to figure out how to get this team to come STRONG in the 3rd quarter.

Exactly. And why does he feel he has to look down while bouncing the ball on his routine? We need to get the word out to LeBrick

+1...It's beyond my comprehension why he keeps doing that and no one's gonna tell him?? Rotating ball in his left hand just before shooting is also not helping I would say.

Seriously, FTs are the only thing that keeps him from reaching insane level of play, I don't even care for his midrange jumper that much, but if he could be 80-85% FT shooter, who the hell is gonna stop him?

quote of the night, Campy Russel: "through 30 games the cavs should look to be 20-8":chuckles:
