Game 2 | Bobcats @ Cavs Oct. 30th, 7:00PM (ET)

Re: Home Opener | Bobcats @ Cavs Oct. 30th, 7:00PM (ET)

The Bulls won their first three championships with Michael Jordan shooting 31.2%, 27.0%, and 35.2% from the three point line. He was 27-29 years old during that time. This means his athleticism must've lasted him enough, seeing as though he wasn't that great of a mid-long range jump-shooter and flat out couldn't shoot the three (which was even shorter back then). Michael's final championship with the Bulls came in 1997-98, when he was 34 years old and shot 23.8% from 3. Please stop trolling these boards with your Phil Jackson propaganda, looking for shock-factor.

Jordan during the first 3 peat had a nasty mid-range game, from about his 3rd or 4th year Jordan had a pretty much automatic jumper from 15-18 feet. There's more to being a good jumpshooter than just 3 point percentages, hell Mo is a better mid-range shooter than he is a 3 point shooter.

Good recap. I'm glad we won and that Bron only played 30 minutes. That is great for we may have to use him more against NO.

Re: Home Opener | Bobcats @ Cavs Oct. 30th, 7:00PM (ET)

Observations since I watched away from PC tonight.

1. DAMN BOOBIE! I think he overheard Mr. Glass: "Boobie is overrated, he hits a floater and all of a sudden he's great or something." Obviously, it was the Bobcats, but he led the team in scoring if I'm not mistaken, and did a hell of a job out there. Tonight's performance compared to his salary, a BARGAIN!

2. We blew out a team and LeBron had less than 25. That's awesome. He was also an assist and a rebound away from a TD. I wasn't sure if he'd average closer to a trip-dub or if he'd be a better scorer now that Mo is here. But I really hope it's the first one. There are lots of players who have led the league in scoring, including LeBron. I think he should try his hardest to average that 3-dub (notice my multitude of triple double abbreviations) because there is only one player that can say he's ever done that. You know who hasn't even done that? The greatest player of all time. I think it'd be nice for LeBron to have something even his idol doesn't have. That of course on his way to getting what so many greats have, an MVP and a ring. If the Cavs make the playoffs and LeBron averages a triple double, he'd be robbed not to get the MVP award this year.

3. AV still going strong, keep it up big man.

4. Better shooting, passing, and defense. Granted, it was Charlotte. But I wish we could've had a game like this to warm up before going into Boston and imploding late.

5. Wright and Hickson. Wright once again hit a jumper that made me think "Joe Smith". And maybe he just got flustered playing against the champs. Hopefully when Mike Brown gives him another shot in the big rotation he cashes in and shows us why we pay him. As for JJ, good for him to not give up on his first NBA basket. And for it to be a stellar dunk like that has to feel special.

GO CAVS!

Imagine if Kobe got the MVP again even if Bron averaged 20 10 10. I'd protest lol.

Also he'd be one up on every player in history not named The Big O. That would surely help make the case for GOAT if it came down to that.

You're welcome. I'm just glad to be a source of motivation through my constant pessimism. I take it I'll be eating crow tomorrow in Science?

It's still the Bobcats.

Too bad it was charlotte, but a win is a win. Saturday should be a fun game to watch. Go Cavs!

Re: Home Opener | Bobcats @ Cavs Oct. 30th, 7:00PM (ET)

One last thing. What is saw from Boobie was very good. I think he is in a more comfortable role this year. H e ust gets to go out and have as much fun and still be playing the game well.It is almost the same role has in the series against detriot. how did thar work out? pretty darn well. 25 points is satisfying but I wont go as far as saying 6th man of the year award.

Can we finally stop pretending Gibson is a One-Guard?

Just got back from the game tonight (217 row 6). So here's a few opinions TV Guide style!

Cheers for Boobie Gibson. Not only was he lights out with 10-14 shooting, but he had no problem switching it up. I'm glad to see him move away from being only a three point specialist, instead taking cues from Manu Ganobli.

Cheers to Big Ben Wallace for his 10 rebounds and 5 blocked shots. A great defensive presence on nearly every play. He was solid for his 25 minutes that he was in.

Cheers to JJ HIckson for posterizing Okafor. Those are pretty memorable first points in the NBA. He also showed he can hit free throws too!

Cheers to team contributions. Every player (minus one in particular) made a contribution of some sort. I was glad to see Lebron not be forced to take over (he only played 30 minutes!) and having several scorers on the court at all times.

Jeers to those first six minutes of the third quarter. Why is it always the third? Does Coach Brown show cartoons during half time? I was getting very antsy when the Bobcats cut the lead down to 5.

Jeers to Wally World. With all due respect to Wally World and Splitvisionz he was a liability on both sides of the floor. 0 points and 3 fouls. He might lose his rotation spot to Sasha, and that's saying something there.

Jeers to empty seats. It is the home opener of a team with legitimate championship aspirations. I know this is "Browns Town", but come on! Radio called it a "sell out", but that wasn't what I saw by any means.

Jeers to that lady who swiped twenty rally towels. They were so mine...

Re: Home Opener | Bobcats @ Cavs Oct. 30th, 7:00PM (ET)

Shaky third quarter effort aside, this was a fantastic effort by the Cavaliers on both sides of the ball.

Won the rebounding battle, reduced the turnovers from the opener (although 15 is still a few too many), and played fantastic defense. The offense bogged down at times, especially in the third quarter, but the team looked really good the other three quarters and were able to pretty much outclass a young and still learning Charlotte team.

Ray Felton has been a guy who has routinely destroyed the Cavaliers in his career and he was completely shut down the entire night. Mo's effort defensively tonight was significantly better then it was against Rondo on Tuesday.

Wally is quickly playing his way out of the rotation. He appears to be even slower then last season if that's possible. I wouldn't be surprised to see Sasha start to chip away more and more of the backup SG/SF minutes.

Daniel Gibson is the best shooter on the team and one of the five best shooters in the league. Tonight was the perfect way to use him offensively. Get him free for open jumpers off curls, down screens, etc. Don't force him into an uncomfortable role as the initiator of the 2nd unit. His ball handling has improved, but Mo, Delonte, or LeBron need to be handling the basketball and initiating the offense pretty much all the time.

Ben Wallace might have played his best game as a Cavalier since his debut last year against Memphis. 10 rebounds, 5 blocks, 1 steal and he was just a catalyst of the defense all night. Ben's play got fat boy May benched pretty quick in the 2nd half.

JJ is such a fun player to watch. Every time he's on the court you know you are either going to get something incredible like his trampoline dunk over Okafor and his huge rejection of Ajinca, or something completely terrible like his badly blocked layup attempt or his blatent offensive foul. I really don't think I've been this excited about a Cavalier draft pick since LeBron.

Pretty fun game tonight. Cavaliers pretty much dominated the game sans about a 7-8 minute stretch in the third quarter of just ice cold shooting combined with some minor defensive breakdowns. Lets hope we can get the kind of effort we got in the first half in Boston and the first half/4th quarter tonight and we can steal one against one of the best teams in the NBA.

I had a great time at the game tonight. Excellent by the whole squad.

But yeah, I was super disappointed in the energy and fan turnout around opening tip. So many empty seats!

They slowly filled up throughout the 1st, and the crowd did really get behind the team as the game went on, but I always forget how bummed i get on opening night... The playoffs are always the last games I remember, then starting back at the beginning is a bit of a culture shock.

Re: Home Opener | Bobcats @ Cavs Oct. 30th, 7:00PM (ET)

Third quarter players should be AV, Mo, Gibson, LBJ and Z...no Wally, no Sasha, no West.

I said it yesterday in my Gibson, Pavs, AV > West, Wally, Wallace thread, that is my favorite 5 on the floor by far.

Much better job with rotations tonight. MB kept enough of the right people on the floor at all times and still managed to keep LeBron minutes way down. It will be nice when we can work Wally and Wright completey out of the rotation, but it's great that MB can keep giving guys a chance for a little while.

GO BOOBIE! - Be a BRA! I love this kid. He's on my fantasy team too. I absolutely love what I see with him and Mo out there together...

No... maybe potato though.

Either way, great game for Boobie. He really needs to be off the ball to be effective for us, giving him minutes over Wally and Sasha is a great thing, because Mo and Delonte should really be the only handlers next to LeBron.

Re: Home Opener | Bobcats @ Cavs Oct. 30th, 7:00PM (ET)

Can we stop saying "it's Charlotte!" and "They're bad!"

A win is a win...I dont see the Celtics going, "Man who cares we beat [insert bad team here], that shouldn't count towards our win total because we can only feel good about beating teams on our level!"
