Game #40 : Cavaliers @ Trailblazers: Wed, January 21st, 10:00 EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This is a huge win. Give credit to Wally for his 10 boards off the bench...we actually outrebounded a much bigger team.

what the hell is with the sasha bashing

6 points (3-6 shooting) 4 points 4 boards, 2 turnovers a steal, and having a couple of really bad calls go against him on the defensive side
I have to take a look at the splits but I don't remember Sasha scoring outside of the breakaway dunk in the second half. He turned the ball over when he did the ball.

No complaints though he played solid D again.

Mo with the most minutes hes played in a game this season. yes only 1 more minute than his highest :)

That one definitely felt good, Mo was on a tear tonight from the 3 point line. Wally arms gotta be tired from pulling down so many boards, Sasha played good defense on Roy, and Lebron was Lebron.

Its rare you get to see father and son play against eachother, and Oden definitely got the best of Bron on that dunk attempt but Lebron showed his pops whose boss the rest of the way.

Good win by the Cavs ! :)

I am 2/3 on prediction now though, said Sasha would get 10+ vs hornets(did), 10+ vs lakers (did), he got 6 today but the refs really took him out of the game mid-way, but it's not all about points! He played good defense, made good decisions and went 3-6 for FG. Maybe my mentality is different but you should support all players on the team and not throw them under the bus if they're in a slump(talk about prior), this is how it is in all sports in Japan.

Wally rebounded great, I wonder if he can keep it up!

Gibson very cold, but it's just a bad game.

Amazing game by Mo! This was the type of game I was waiting from him, Lebron had a great game, but does anyone feel that he's been less aggressive lately probably due to his arm?

edit: didn't know gibson was 1-2 thought he was 1-4, disregard !

I appreciated how, even though LeBron was playing PG for a lot of the game, we didn't see a big dose of the regular LeISO down the stretch (last 6 minutes). Yeah, he had the ball almost nonstop but he wasn't doing a lot of pounding the ball and nothing else, then jacking up a jump shot. Portland's constant double teaming made him do something all the time. He basically took over PG and Mo took over SG. LeBron made plays, drove and kicked to someone he trusted (why not, with Mo hitting everything), facilitated, and scored. Portland was totally selling out on stopping LBJ and he made them pay. The offense looked good, although not exactly ideal, when the game was on the line, even if the players weren't all playing their typical roles.

I love games when the Cavs exceed expectations (@Denver, New Orleans, @Portland, etc.). Now just get 1 more, or better yet 2 more on this trip.

Virtually the whole team contributed, although Hickson was overmatched by Aldridge (no surprise) and Gibson was quiet. Sasha has had 3 solid games in a row, even if the point total wasn't high. He has stepped and done just what he's been asked to do. And that one charge was a questionable call - one ref had it called a block.

But a great team win led by two stars tonight. Against a good team on the road. Cavs played hard as hell and did not get dominated inside like they did by the Lakers big men. Rebounding and effort and sizzling shooting often. Not much to criticize.

Very good win. The refs tried to take us out of it, AGAIN! We did a great job though, Mo and Lebron were great.

Our defense was very good and I was very happy to see us outrebound their team. They have 2 footers as well but we did a much better job. We were physical and played with more energy, two things I think we lacked against the Lakers.

Sasha played well, he got some cheap fouls called on him but so did some of our other guys.

I loved the ball movement today, obviously it helps when guys put the ball in the hoop. I can't emphasize how happy I was with Mo's performance. He really stepped up tonight and it was a great thing to see.

Junk offense, akin to running the fake punt time and time again. We put LeBron at PF then had him run the offense. With a team full of talented pivot players, the Blazers didn't figure out how to deal with it defensively. Kleuster deserves the game ball as much as Mo for coming up with the scheme.

Yep, been running gimmick lineups for a while now...that can't last long. Cant wait for Z to get back next week so we can get a return to normalcy.

Now that was a fun win.

I watched the replay of Mo's last three about 25 times and never got tired of AC screaming "Shoot it! Shoot it! Mo Williams in the Rose Garden!" :chuckles:

I also like how Mo ran that pick and pop on his second-to-last three were he gave LeBron a screen to the right and then faded to the left for a wide open look. Great execution down the stretch on some crucial possessions.

Andy deserves some love for drawing all those fouls on Oden. The team defensive effort was outstanding. They outrebounded a great rebounding team on the road. And Wally had 10 rebounds. Again, a great win.

In his latest cavaliers insider report,Brian Windhorst said that LBJ is injured.

It was a junk offense (also a result of the early foul trouble on Gibson) but the kind of thing they have used at times before with some success. And it actually led to more movement, rather than less, in the 4th quarter. You don't want to do it for a whole playoff series, but if they're healthy, they won't have to. Is there anything LeBron wasn't involved in tonight?

It was not unlike what the Cavs did at times to get New Orleans totally out of their game.

I was impressed with how, despite the offensive changes, they were able to make solid defensive stops down the stretch, and not give up many second shots. Well, I was impressed with a lot of their moves tonight.
