Game Thread 2020-21 Season | Game #34 | Cavs @ Sixers | February 27, 2021

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Is it just me or does he a have punchable face?
He has a face that should be hit with a blunt object.

Physically he should be a generational talent. Except, he doesn't care, doesn't work hard, and will take a backseat to anyone who will step on the court with him.

What’s the explanation behind us suddenly competing at the defensive end again? Saw consistent strong helps and recoveries which basically didn’t happen for a month. We went through an extended stretch where one person getting compromised was essentially an automatic lay up or a wide open 3 to actually playing for each other.

Such a weird team. Oscillating between lookin like on the brink of being a piece away from being borderline good to looking like clearly the worst team in the league to now randomly winning 3 in a row.
After the west coast trip they had a chance to practice for the first time without Drummond and possibly even the first time since they traded for Allen and Prince.

The excuse for us beating the 76ers last time was that they didn't have Embiid. What's the excuse now? This Cavs team has the ceiling of a 6th seed this season, and that'll only go up next year.

Look I'm ready to start the playoff hype train again because its fun but they're the 2nd worst team in the East record wise and the WORST team in the league in point differential.

I'm seeing a few similarities between the Cavs & the Jazz, the best team in the league right now. Jarrett Allen is our Rudy Gobert, Collin Sexton is our Donovan Mitchell & Darius Garland is our Mike Conley. That said, our supporting cast looks better on paper than theirs. This team is on the rise.

We all need to avoid this kind of overreacting.

Having the ability to win some games does not equal having a ceiling as a 6th seed this year. We are way off from that consistency wise. And talent wise. Focus more on seeing that there are players who have tools to work with and that for the long term, with continued growth and continued additions to the talent base, their could be a stable winning team here in our future.

In the same way that we have seen enough good things to not overreact and act like their is zero talent here and a complete blow up is needed.

The tailspin we were in happened in a killer stretch of games againstt only teams in the top10 of the NBA record wise and almost all the games were either with just one day off in between or back to back. In other words, killer schedule, Nance goes down, no practice time, and we got slaughtered. With the SAS game that was cancelled and and some natural breaks in the schedule that gave us time to practice, we were able to at least get some practice time in and refocus.
People immediately forget about nance being injured and playing top teams in a tough schedule that had 5 games in 7 days on the road. Sheesh...

I have no idea what's going to happen. The Cavs have the 4th worst record in the league. And they're 4 games out of the 4 seed in the East. If Altman can use Drummond and/or Osman to get them some help, they still have a shot to make the playoffs.

Now the East is currently the worst conference in the History of the NBA somehow so I guess the Cavs are still in the thick of the playoff race. I mean...3 teams in the conference above .500........

I think this team went through growing pains during that 10 game losing streak. There are a few reasons as to why we lost so many games in a row. First off, the schedule was brutal. Also, we where incorporating our new additions in Jarrett Allen & Taurean Prince. It takes time to build chemistry, which is so important in finding success as a team.

The Cavs have the pieces to be a playoff team. I'd like another top 5 pick but this team is too talented for that to happen, unless they intentionally tank. I wouldn't be too upset if they take that route though. However, I don't think that's going to happen.

Just happy to have a competitive game, let’s see how they come to play against Houston, if they play well and win, then yeah second half could be interesting. If they lose, then they are who we thought they are.

Sexton had his usual game but Garland played well tonight.

Neither was very efficient, but both made big shots.

Okoro was a difference maker. Okoro from 2 weeks ago gives us about 5 points and 2 rebounds and we never even sniff overtime. We needed every bit of his 15 & 8. Wade also makes a difference. Obviously doesn’t look for his shot much, but he’s a really good help defender and 6’9” closing out makes all those 3 pointers a little bit harder. With our rebounding issues, 12 boards doesn’t hurt either.
