Great effort but they ran out of gas in the second half, getting outscored 58-43. It was their third game in four nights and they played last night so it's not surprising they couldn't hang in the second half with only eight players available.
They almost stole a win but failed to control Kelan Martin, averaging 2.9 ppg with a season high of 11. He put up 25 tonight and chipped in 7 rebounds for a +15 in 25 minutes. Like the announcers said, he was the difference. As I said in the original post, whenever we play a team with key starters out somebody comes off the bench and plays like an All-Pro. Tonight it was Martin.
Sabonis dominated Allen with 21 points and 20 rebounds, holding Allen to 12 and 9, plus he had a lot of balls bounce off his hands or get slapped out of his hands as usual. I can't complain about his effort, though. Sabonis also had 2 steals and 4 blocks.
Kabengele came of the bench to score 9 points and grab 4 rebounds in 16 minutes. I'd like to see more of this guy, but Wade was playing well so JBB left him in. Wade ended up with his first career double-double (I think) with 19 and 12. Same for Okoro with a line of 22/10/4. I'm feeling pretty good about Okoro going into next season.
Sexton battled his brains out as usual but I think the minutes are taking their toll as he was only 7-for-26. He did draw a lot of fouls, though, going 10-for-12 from the line as he continues to sacrifice his body for free throws. He also dished out eight assists.
Dotson had seven points, two rebounds, and no assists in 26 minutes. He's been a disappointment.
