Game Thread | 2021-2022 Season | Game #56 | Cavs @ Sixers | Feb. 12, 2022 | 7:00 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This was a good game to learn from. Philly is a team we haven't respected much because the Cavs have been good against them past few years. Embiid is at a different level now

This was a game that told me we still need Sexton. Nobody could get past the first line of defense

I’d say Garland’s one assist is more about Philly shutting our offense down rather than something being wrong with Garland.
I said throughout the game thread last night DG’s one assist was a product of his consistent indecisiveness last night. All game long he looked like he was second guessing everything he was doing on the court. Even when he got in the paint his lobs (that normally look fluid) were herky jerky. It was like he was in between deciding to lob it or shoot the floater.

I think that's true, but this is what the game is going to look like in the playoffs. I've said before that lob dunks are fun and impressive but they're regular season plays. In the playoffs almost any team will be able to take those plays away. Easy assists will be few and far between.

He was Shiney second guessing because he was trying to get his teammates involved. At the rim just shoot it though. You're open and if you miss because of the center, Allen will be there to get the rebound

Joel is only the second player since 1960 to score a 40 point triple double. The other player? James Harden.

Joel is leading the NBA in scoring. No center has won the scoring title since Shaq in 2000.

Joel also is the second player in Sixers history to have a 40 point triple double. The first was Wilt in 1968.

I don’t care about Halliburton vs. Okoro. We should have drafted Embiid over Wiggins and waited for him. LeBron / Embiid / World B Flat would be unstoppable even by the Durant Warriors. (Not really serious about this point, but that trio would be the Ultimate Big 3).

Wait a minute, how can Harden be the only other player to score a 40 point triple double since 1960 if Wilt did it in 1968?

And those of you who keep saying this seem to assume JBB can never improve at in-game coaching. You use regular season games as proof when in reality JB might just be testing lineup combinations and concepts.
It’s still concerning when JBB tests line-up combinations that would never work, and that we KNOW they won’t work. It pays to work through those line-up possibilities in an efficient manner.

I think someone called him Troel Embiid upthread, i'm still cracking up . . .

Heh. Did get part of a signed manuscript from A Storm of Swords, though.

Obviously, that was awhile back....
Just sayin’. Dance with Dragons came out 11 years ago, and GRRM is 73. Clock is ticking. Got to finish the series George. One, because his gift for storytelling will only be alive as long as he is, and two, because we need to know how HE imagined it ending, before Weiss and Benioff got involved.
