Game Thread | 2021-2022 Season | Play-in Game #1 | Cavs @ Nets | April 12, 2022 | 7:00 p.m. TNT

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Won't be able to watch live, bur hoping to wake up to a W, so we can get back to playoffs right away!

Either way, this game is a huge step towards getting back to actual contending, hope the young guys take it all in and kick some ass.

Where this attack happened it is located a half mile away from the Barclay's. Manhattan went on full alert when I was driving through to take my daughter to school. Perp is still on the run. That is a really quiet non-busy subway stop but near the Barclay's. It is NYC I don't think they shut down the game but who knows.
It's extremely close to the Nets practice facility, less close to Barclay's

I am debating staying up to watch this live. On one hand it's a great achievement for the young team. On the other hand Cavs basketball has not been the scrappy everyone on the same page team ball we enjoyed early in the season and I worry JBB will be hugely exposed as a coach

Yeah, I don't see any possible way this game gets played tonight.
I'd be surprised if the game is postponed due to one crime, one murder, in a city of 2 million. People forget how big Brooklyn is.

I'll watch the game. Our last playoff game was in 2018 against the Warriors. That series left a bad taste in my mouth.

I don't even know our last playoff without Lebron was. I had a hard time following them after I moved out of Cleveland in 1988.

it will be interesting to see who's "old guys" can ramp it up for a game. Kevin's been way more effective than Aldridge/Griffin/Dragic this year, but I worry one of those guys finds the fountain of youth for just one game.

Looks like they will play, but the Nets have offered some thoughts on it already:

The only playoff Rondo I need to see is the one that dislocated Wades elbow. I don’t root for injuries but if Rondo ends up making a questionably dirty play on KD or Kyrie or even Seth scurry….I’m just saying I wont exactly be devastated or morally outraged by it.

I fully expect Dragic to pull something out of his ass if he's in the rotation.

I think Kevin is dialed in. The last game was no fluke. He has a lot to prove not jiat for the last few years, but even during our title runs. The guy was an all time talent and relegated to a corner. I think he comes out guns blazing.

If "playoff Rondo" means that he doesn't telegraph his cross court passes anymore, I'm all for it.

Even though the end of the season was bumpy, there have been some signs... The recent losses against Philly, Brooklyn, Dallas, Chicago: I thought there were some good things going on.

They laid an egg against the Hawks on a second night of a back2back and the Orlando debacle after zooming to a comfortable lead, they have been giving up a big batch of points, getting knocked around by corner threes, have missed major, major rotation players (get well soon JA), made some mistakes/had some lapses, some tactical decisions and adjustments are deserving of criticism, BUT... In spite of all that, this team has some major talent. Young, inexperienced throughout most of the roster, but talented and skilled.

On a bigger stage with higher stakes, I am so excited to see this group face the challenges before them and make their mark on the game of basketball. It's a journey. There's going to be some gut punches. There's going to be time for celebration. There will be questions. There will be answers.

Post all-star break, JBB had this to say:
“We still have to play with that chip, we have to play with that underdog mentality that we’ve had to put ourselves in the position that we’re in now. We can’t rest on our laurels and think we’ve accomplished something. We’ve got a lot of games left and there’s a lot on the table to be had.”

Well, I would say the underdog status has been established. They're fighting for the chance at a full series and beyond. Let's see what noise they make!
