Game Thread | 2021-2022 Season | Play-in Game #1 | Cavs @ Nets | April 12, 2022 | 7:00 p.m. TNT

Playoff Rondo will probably be the same effect as was when thought we were getting Washington Antawn Jamison ……

So yeah, we badly need Okoro and LeVert to rebound.

And we need Lauri to not brick a 3 first possession of the game.

Mobley and Garland gotta stay out of foul trouble. It’s gonna be really hard to stop BKN. I’d consider leaving Brown open on the perimeter. Or going zone. But we also have to limit turnovers and transition points for BKN.

I’m expecting us to battle harder than we have been, but I don’t anticipate a close game.

Well, the Nets blocked 8 shots against the Cavs last week so I wouldn't say their interior defense is non-existant. But the Cavs had a lot more success shooting 2's (58%) than 3's (29%). The Nets will have either Drummond or the 6'11" Claxton in the paint at all times and Durant is always on the floor and blocked two shots last week.

I agree it will be interesting to see what adjustments JBB makes. I thought Stevens did a better job defensively on Durant than anybody.

The Nets went with a 7-man rotation against the Pacers, except for rookie shooting guard Cam Thomas who played 9 minutes. They are heavily dependent on Kyrie and Durant to carry the offense although Bruce Brown has been on fire since becoming a starter after Harden was traded. In March he averaged 14.7 points on 54.4% from the field and 41.9% on 3's. In four April games he's at 14.8 ppg on 53.8% and 60% on 3's. He's also averaging 6.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and a surprising 2.5 blocks per game. The Cavs can't ignore him or he will burn them like he did last game.
I liked how Caris and Darius attacked the basket last time. Would like to continue seeing that and get Mobley opportunities or our 3pt shooting. I don’t want to force too many 3s but continue to be aggressive. Agreed on your point with blocked shots in Drummond and Claxton but we need to penetrate and get the ball moving. Can’t afford to always have Okoro standing in the corner - need some back cute and off ball movement.

Agree with the above posts. You're gonna have to accept KD and Kyrie shooting 1-on-1 semi-contested jumpshots. Over-help and Currey/Mills will have a 3pt party.

I have no confidence in JBB doing that. One thing we know about him is that he LOVES trying to shut down star players. It’s why he loves Okoro so much for example and plays him so much. He sees him as that 1-on-1 lockdown defender.

On rare occasions the strategy works. Like against Milwaukee when we shut down Giannis. But most of the time it doesn’t. Like against Philly or Brooklyn.
