The Vince Carter ApproachThe Lakers are 1-2 when he plays. He's shooting more 3's than ever. To be specific, in three games he's averaging 9.7 three-point attempts per game. His career average is 4.4 and his previous high was 6.3 (the last two years). So he's shooting 53% more 3's so far this year than he's ever shot before.
LeBron at nearly 37 years old is transitioning quickly to being more of a 3-point shooter than a slasher. And the Cavs are a great perimeter defending team - they rank 5th in opponents' 3-point percentage at 31%.
LeBron is averaging 20.0 shots per game and 9.7, or just under 50%, are 3's. He's conserving energy. They're playing him 38 minutes a game. He has to pace himself. If the Cavs press him on the perimeter and not let him get open looks they should be OK.
He's also averaging 5.3 assists per game, which is the lowest of his career despite playing more minutes per game than any season in 10 years. His game has had to change. Father Time is undefeated. He's transitioning to being a spot-up 3-point shooter instead of a slasher and distributor.
Bron is already #11 all time in 3 pointers. Watch him climb a little.
