Peace on Earth
Good will toward men
Good will toward men
Not sure how you can state this absolutely but you’re the closest we have to any insider information so I accept this at face value.
I’m sure he was. Or he could have been saving his own ass from something they had on him.If you read the full story it sounds like the father-in-law is a real piece of shit.
No way this can be proven either way. I choose to remain skeptical the old nickname was a dealbreaker to prospective buyers but I do concede that new merchandizing revenues were an inducement. What really matters is an apparent infusion of badly needed cash is on the way. Happy holidays Guardians’ fans.I mean, I can. And I did.
Whether you believe me or not is up to you.
More likely they wanted the prior owner to take the PR hit for the name change so they wouldnt have to.Yea that's kinda long what I've thought. After Chief Wahoo, there just wasn't a good way to market or merchandise the team
That and the name change decreased the teams net value for the foreseeable futureMore likely they wanted the prior owner to take the PR hit for the name change so they wouldnt have to.
Huh?That and the name change decreased the teams net value for the foreseeable future
The thread title is misleading, this guy isn't a minority as far as I can tell.
So how exactly did this guy make his money, and how does he continue to? Because it looks to me like his ownership group just owns sports teams- I see not just the 76ers and Devils, but stakes in minor league baseball, pro soccer, eSports, etc. Because if he makes his money off each of the stakes in his team, then it begs the question of how much will he really spend when he becomes principle owner by the end of the decade as Bimbo alluded to. The pro sports owners who spend are usually older guys wanting to leave a legacy, ones whom the team is an expensive hobby, or ones who are lucky to have a player that is a massive revenue generator to offset the spending. Is this Blitzer any of these?
Whether you agree with them or not it seems like a number of people won't be following the team anymore. The twitter and Facebook comments are 90% negative feedback about the name change months after it was announced. The team must know this because first time in years they're selling opening day single game tickets before Christmas. 3 years ago they sold out in 5 minutes in February/March. It will eventually settle but they certainly didn't gain any fans over this.Huh?
AZ, clearly you and I see things differently from a political POV, but I couldn't agree with you more that not rooting for this team because of a name change is f'n stupid. I don't even like the new C design and I hate the winged ball, but this is my team. Kinda like when one of your kids F-up. They're still your child and you don't care any less for them. I'm so ready for all of the BS to become history.Hope they’re able to field a team this year due to the blowback incurred by very rational people having insatiable anger over an animated mascot and team name.
Those people deeply deserve to be catered to.
Huh?
