Do you contribute anything to this forum??

And guys, I still can't find anything about this. I don't think it happened. I don't see why it really would, why would we need a platoon OF with little power and a mediocre BA when we have Jason Michael's already.

If they are looking for a corner OF guy, I think they'll look for someone with a little more pop in their bat. On top of that, with Crowe tearing it up so far in fall ball, I think we might see him sooner rather than later.

Yeah in fact I do..do you?

Saves: I hope that was sarcasm because he has nearly 10,000 posts and is NOT the guy to start something with.

There is nothing on either ESPN or the team site. Where have you read this cavsfan89???

I don't care how many posts there are, everyone I've seen has been garbage with no substance and negative connotations that's done nothing but take away from the informative and informational nature of said threads. Not the guy to mess with?? Is that some type of threat? Come on now.

And I think this rumor has been deflated. No legitimate word from any source or on any board.

Lets calm these waters... If anything, it's fired up the Indians section..

Saves and SportsMcallister-

Are you guys just hardcore tribe fans ? I don't recall seeing you guys post in the Cavs section..

Just wondering..

What were we talking about in here...if I have to get all intellectual I guess it's what I'll have to do...

Point is I'm sick of the Indians going after bargain basement Free Agents...we have the money but our owner is cheap..we have the horses in the Farm System to make deals but we don't...I understand we don't want to mortgage the future but at what position are we really thin at that we can't afford to deal a couple of minor leaguers? I understand we have some exception AAA and AA teams but that's not really doing much on the Cleveland Indians wins and loss total..

We can't have 1st and 2nd year players at every position, it's just not going to happen..we need to deal some AAA guys at positions of cluster...IE 3rd Base, 2nd Base, 1st Base, CF I think we have the MLB Record with most Catchers in a single franchise A AA AAA and the Majors with 53.

We need a power hitter a guy who can protect Haf and Grady..Grady is the speedy on base hitter and Hafner is the hoss that drives them all in. We can't rely on Hafner to be the sole run producer..granted Peralta "hopefully" will break out of the sophomore slump we need some beef in the batting order particularly a corner outfielder like Carlos Lee...err never mind that.

There isn't anyone on the market to help in the Pen really...unless we're sticking with the Free Agent technique of the last few years where we just sign some washed up guy on the cheap hoping he can pass as a legit closer/middle reliever/ setup man whatever the case may be. So we'll have to get creative and fashion up a trade or just hope to god we can give the pen 10 or more runs to work with and hope for the best.

This is the point where we need to package up some Minor Leaguers and get some solid guys in there to protect the leads our starters give them. Shapiro is a solid GM he just can't do much with the resources he has been given..or not given.

Hopefully I've proven that I know what I'm talking about and you can either add something to the thread or dissolved like the others who call me out. I'm an Indians fan but I have no problem calling them what they are...they're garbage as of right now...we sat pat the last few years signing middle aged Utility Infielders looking for one final contract before giving up the game..and banking on the improvement of the youngins'..

We can't do what we did last year and sign a bunch of guys who have a chance at maybe doing a little better. Barfield was a GREAT start to this off-season, and was a guy who can contribute right away.

I think the key to this year is consistancy. We need a BA of .280++ from the top 5 guys and if the top 6 could do it that would be great with the bottom of the order contributing. Having a lineup that can hurt you from top to bottom can be deadly as well. Jason Michaels was supossed to be that guy but failed miserably.

Depth Chart

C. Martinez, Shoppach
1B. Garko, Blake, Martinez
2B. Barfield, Luna, Inglett
3B. Marte, Blake
SS. Peralta, Inglett
RF. Blake, Choo, Gutierrez,
CF. Sizemore, Inglett, Gutierrez
LF. Choo, Michaels, Gutierrez
DH. Hafner

SP. CC, Westbrook, Lee, Byrd, Sowers, Carmona
RP. Perez, Lara, Guthrie, Mujica, Sikorski, Davis, Miller, Betancourt, Slocum, Cabrera, Mastny. (closer)

I'm happy with the order, but Blake and Choo need to step up. Choo has got to do what he was doing at the end of last year, and his play is key. Blake is the wild card. He just isn't tha good in the field or with his arm, so his bat needs to be above average. Garko and marte are wildcards, but look to be promising. These guys are the #1 keys to victory. Both look good overall, and are loaded with potential.

The pitching staff will take a while and we need to see where everything is when the dust settles.

This off-season pitching should be our first priority, with outfielding being second, and solid for-sure guys who can play being third (that aren't old). No more questions are nedded on this team.

GO TRIBE 07!

U do know Blake has the best arm on the indians right???? Blake is good in the field and a good hitter. his problem is staying healthy, which i think he can.

left field and the bullpin are my worries. if we can get a decent bullpin then left field is not a must. choo should be ok over there.

yeah like getting all intellectual is such a bad thing....

Point is I'm sick of the Indians going after bargain basement Free Agents...

not sure what you are expecting, but if you really think the Indians are going to sign a big monied free agent you might want to consider following another team - its not going to happen, didn't happen under Jacobs and won't happen under Dolan....

we have the money but our owner is cheap..

Jacobs was actually the cheap one - when the Indians were making money like crazy Hart didn't make the Pedro Martinez deal because he knew Jacobs would never sign him...

we have the horses in the Farm System to make deals but we don't...I understand we don't want to mortgage the future but at what position are we really thin at that we can't afford to deal a couple of minor leaguers? I understand we have some exception AAA and AA teams but that's not really doing much on the Cleveland Indians wins and loss total..

We can't have 1st and 2nd year players at every position, it's just not going to happen..we need to deal some AAA guys at positions of cluster...IE 3rd Base,

You mean like Kevin Kouzmanoff? Oh wait, he was already traded.

2nd Base,

if the Indians had talent at second that was major league ready do you think they would have traded for Barfield? the truth is the talent the Indians have at second is career minor league variety....

2 years ago that would have been right - but Garko graduated to the big leagues, and the others - Head and Mulhern especially - took a big step backwards - so the idea of trading any of them and getting something useful in return, even as part of a package, seems far fetched at best....

The only possibility that you suggested that is worth doing - and once again i wonder what you are expecting in return.

I think we have the MLB Record with most Catchers in a single franchise A AA AAA and the Majors with 53.

if this is your example of getting all intellectual, its not working....

You mean the same Carlos Lee who has been described as a DH in waiting? Do you honestly expect the Indians to be in the running for FA's like this? This team never will be in the running for players like that - they weren't under Jacobs, and they won't be under Dolan - until revinue sharing becomes a real thing.

Unless if you find a team doing a salary dump during the offseason, that is just not going to happen.

Hopefully I've proven that I know what I'm talking about and you can either add something to the thread or dissolved like the others who call me out. Once again, not sure what you are expecting, but somehow i think you have set up a self fulfilling prophecy - you want things to happen that you know will not happen, so when they don't happen you can go back to your pithy little one line inanities.
