29 homers 2 years ago, but that avg. needs to go up.

The Manny deal held this up. When the talks went dead the worked the final pieces out.

Also Ron Villione will sign pretty soon, Shapiro is waiting for he doesnt have to give up draft picks

The Indians give up a 2 round pick a also a garbage pick to Phily.

ron villione?? looked him up and said player not found.

I love this signing. Gives us depth in the OF. If Dellucci plays everyday, he was on pace for 26 HR, 80 RBI, and a .290+ batting average. Those numbers are EXCACTLY what we need. IF he can give us that, him and Barfield together would make this a fantastic off-season already.

Blake will most likely start at 1B with Garko backing him up. If that happens Shoppach is SOL since Victor will play C. Can someone tell me how good Choo's arm is compared to Blakes from RF?

I don't live in Cleveland anymore, so it's hard to keep current with the tribe, so I have a quick question: You say Vic will play catcher, but didn't he suck defensively at catcher last year (and forever)? I.e. - can't he play somewhere else?

Dellucci is a pretty good player, at least from one side of the plate. I was kind of hoping the phillies would be able to retain him, but he is more of an american league type player.

nate: Vic is not a great defensive catcher. However most of that is from his opp stolen bases stats. And a lot of that comes from Paul Byrd, who anyone could get a great running start on, and it's nearly impossible to catch him. Garko looked promising last year, and if Choo can beat Blake in RF, and if Blake beats out Garko, it could start a chain reaction. Shoppach is a great up-and-coming player as well, but we now have depth to deal with.

If Shoppach can really outplay Choo and/or Blake, Vic will play 1st, depending on how Wedge sees it.

SportMcAllister and Saves: Sorry, Welcome to the board. I am looking forward to talkin sports with ya during the seasons as I'm sure most everyone else is, and you should be encouraged to disagree, but thats borderline attacking the poster and not the post in a way.

Chiefwahoo put it nice.

BACK ON TRACK

I follow ESPN Insider Daily and the team site and thats it so if these are a little broad I am sorry.

Out of the 20+ that are looking for teams that are listed on ESPN, the Indians are involved with ....1. JD Drew. And he is getting very close to signing with Boston, which isn't horrible since he's asking 14M a season right now. It's frustrating not seeing us in the hunt for some guys. I guess these just aren't our guys. Or Dolan is cheap again.

As ridiculous as most of those contracts have been to date - i am glad the Indians are passing on these players. I'd rather spend that money making sure CC, Pronk and Grady stay for a good long time.
