So I have an Okoro offensive comparison.... The offensive profiles are very similar; the stats matchup pretty well as does the Synergy stuff.

Isaac Okoro = RJ Barrett

Barrett's usage (had twice as many possessions as Okoro) and role as a primary ball handler at Duke skews some of the playmaking stats, but other than that, they're really similar.

Obviously I'm just talking about the offensive profiles. Beyond the offense, I like Okoro's defense more than Barrett's even if I think Okoro's defense is somewhat overblown on here (FWIW, Synergy didn't love his defense surprisingly). I do think Okoro will be an above average perimeter defender in the NBA but I don't think he's this perennial All-Defensive guy some are making him out to be. However, I do prefer Barrett's athleticism while being taller, longer and leaner.

Thank you for this breakdown. Pass on both.

Underrated finisher. People are sleeping on him there. If he gets his jumpshot poppin there will be very little defenders can do.
Seriously underrated as a finisher and is good at generating contact. He gets to the FT line as well and I believe he can improve his FT shooting. He has the work ethic to make it happen.

Okoro is my pick at 5

I can't believe, the Cavs might pass over him...
Yeah, it’s sucks. I’ll always cast my lot with gym rats and hard workers, like Collin Sexton & Isaac Okoro. It also fits with the mentality & mindset of Clevelanders. Offense clearly trumps all in the eyes of the Cavs front office and they apparently don’t believe Okoro’s offense will develop enough to justify the pick.

I think Okoro has a the best chance in this draft to be a Kawai Leonard. He finishes very well in contact, has a broad skill range, perfect Body type and the right work ethic.

That said, this draft is flat, so if we get a haul in a trade down, I would not be against it. for example if Ball falls to us, I would consider a trade down.

He is not a Kawhi Leonard type of player.
Why do people always have to make direct comparisons even when they don't fit?

Because Kawhi is so elite that some people pray they can find a diamond in the rough reach that level (although I agree, Okoro is literally nothing like Kawhi).

The Caron Butler comparison's are the best out there. They make sense in a variety of ways.

The glaring stat that bothers me the most is 4.4 rebounds per game.. That's.... not good.. Especially for a player most of you are claiming to be so physical and so cerebral.. Two comparison's I've seen for Okoro is Caron Butler and PJ Tucker.. Caron Butler's freshman year averaged 7.6 rebounds per game.. PJ Tucker averaged 6.9 rebounds per game with significantly less minutes per.

3pt% at 28%... That's.... bad. Granted, small sample size so it's hard to gauge but first look that is not ideal.

This guy goes in the 20's in most drafts. With this draft being so weak is the only reason we're discussing him in the top 10 which makes the Kawhi prayers even more of a fantasy.

I would be very surprised if he turned out to be a Kawhi type player (not that he can't, I would just be surprised and extremely impressed). I think Okoro is just high IQ and extremely versatile, I think of him as more of a swiss army knife. He's like, ultimate glue guy, heart and soul and he's going to go out and compete and do whatever you need him to do and he's not going to make mistakes.

I got to say, if he is a SG and cannot play the SF position much at all, his value for us goes down quite a bit. I love the kid but you got to look at fit versus his defensive ability.

I wanted him to guard small forwards and if that isn't on the table, he should be off of it for us. Damn shame in my mind because I really like this kid and what he brings. IF you still draft him, a kid like him will find time on the floor because of what he does...but again, i want a better fit for a plug and play guy.

No reason he shouldn't be able to guard SFs effectively.

My issues are entirely different and on the other side of the ball.

I don't care a lot about his offense. I think he can become a solid and reliable guy in that area. I want a bulldog who can guard people when the game is on the line.

We need a wing who can also guard some PF's too. Can Okoro do that?

The area that is by far the hardest to project for him you don't care about and confident that he will be reliable in? Well then, you got nothing to worry about if that's the case.
The easiest part to project is the one you seem to be uncertain about. Obviously he fits the description of what you are looking for.
