It is risky but these last few games have been huge for him. He’s already gained so much confidence handling the ball it no longer looks like he’s going to eat shit every time he touches it. He’s actually making some nice, decisive moves outside of straight line drives.

Cavs make their rookies play tons of minutes and it appears to work. What can you say

I was fine with him only developing a corner 3 and enough handle to make a defense move along with his already solid hoops IQ and very good defense. Those two traits make him an upper level starter.

Now I've got the taste: I want next level-mash-up of Jimmy Butler/Jaylen Brown please.
Bingo!! Last nite was a sneak preview of Okoro down the road. With a Sexton type work ethic , 2-3 years from now we will have a pretty darn good player

How are they playing this kid 43 minutes in a game that we probably want to lose? It's important for his development to be healthy in the offseason.
I think rookie minutes track to long term player success.. if he can give you 35-40 a game all season, no major injuries, he can play starter minutes.. The more he plays, the more the game slows down for him.. Consider Windler, who has been unable to sustain back up minutes, and just has not progressed as a player..

Also, I like seeing him battle to win , even when the game does not matter.. Would like to see that fire in Allen..

The 3-point shot is coming around nicely and he's shooting it without hesitation. When he sees an opening he's attacking the lane with confidence and finishing with power and athleticism. The progress this season has been amazing on the offensive side of the ball. He's averaging nearly 12 shots a game in May after 8.4 in April and 6.6 in March. Last night he got 10 rebounds for the first time in his career. The needle is pointing up.

Look at the minutes Toppin got this year and Okoro. Toppin never gets those minutes back and he will be 23 while Okoro is 20 and led the team in minutes. He went from a guy afraid to shoot, to hitting clutch 3s to keep it close and making and 1s to take it to overtime.

He semi-credibly played secondary playmaker last night and it was impressive.

Cavs are serious about player development, and that means playing rookies minutes they don't deserve.

decision making with the ball was pretty good last night, most of the questionable decisions were simply aggressive moves to the bucket that ended up getting blocked (and frankly some of those could have been called as fouls, imo).

Something that sticks out to me watching Okoro play is just how good his feet are.

It's clear that his quick feet are his best asset as a defender, but he's learning how to use that asset to get open shots via the stepback, and most importantly, develop an array of ways to attack the basket.

Even if he only has one or two offensive mid range moves, having good finishing and a solid 3pt shot will open the floor for him so much. The chops are there for a secondary playmaker as well, and he isn’t even in his full grown body yet.

He is going to be moving dudes with his body on straight line drives very soon. He is built like a brick shit house at 20 years old.

I think tightening his handle/rigidity is his most important boom bust skill right now, it already seems significantly improved since the beginning of the year. Other teams are defending him this month like he is a focal point on offense aka funneling him to bigs in PnR and he has had his best month as a pro BY FAR this month.

Final point: watch a highlight reel of him in January and watch last night, is there anyway we could have expected a 22pt game from him let alone a 32 pt game that he personally sent to overtime? Lord knows im high on him and I didn’t even expect those performances. His development and confidence is night and day since the beginning of the year.

Yeah he is nimble and has good foot work. Unusual for someone with his build.

I tried to tell yall give Okoro time to develop. People are so quick to give up on young players. It makes no sense at all...Especially, when he didn't have a proper training camp this season.

His bag is getting bigger @red. Upgraded from a Puma bag to an Adidas one imho.

from my pov, lots to be optimistic about right now.
Really? He’s taking the same shots and making them now. Either an inside layup/dunk or a 3. No floater or midrange. Bag looks the same to me.

Passing and finishing in the pick and roll, step back 3's, left handed passes in the paint, drop off pass, Eurostep, hesitation dribble cross over dribble. I must have amnesia, I don't remember that stuff from earlier in the year.

He is showing some guard skills now
