He's completely unplayable right now. I saw him miss some shots that myself, and I'm sure others here... can make in their sleep. He needs some G League time for offense/confidence. There are many 6"5' guys out there way better than IO.
We’re stuck with this idiot head coach and it’s frustrating and hopeless as shit
Have mercy on us all.
Part of this is he really can’t say anything else. Now, if he and the organization actually believe everything is great then we have a genuine issue. You don’t play people, even at the high school level, because “nobody works harder”. You play the best players - period. Anything else is unfair to the other people on the team
Have mercy on us all.
Look, as fans it's easy to say, "this guy can't shoot and therefore bench him." Fact of the matter is, he would normally be last guy in the rotation. Injury and illness have thrust Okoro into a bigger role while the players he would fit with best - shooters and spacers - are either out or playing on fumes.
What I can say in Okoro's defense is that he is defending at a high level and doesn't turn the ball over. I personally don't believe he is a Cavalier past the deadline, so let him show some rebuilding team in the Wembayama sweepstakes that he still deserves some development time and isn't a lost cause. The time to give him those minutes won't make more sense later... This is his time.
They did the rebuild last offseason i thought. Usually a 3 year process to see the full results, but it hasn't been goodThe crazy thing is that after the All-Star break last year he shot 44.2% on 3's. It was only 44 shots, but the percentage was great. It makes me wonder why they decided to "rebuild" his shot in the off-season. He's down to 18% after a summer of intensive work.
If JBB is going to continue to make the game harder on everyone else because he wants to play his pet, then they can gtfo together.
There were multiple times last night where Okoro was wide open but refused to shoot the 3. Made the game harder for everyone else on the floor, especially Mitchell and Mobley. Toronto hid Siakam on him all game. On defense, Siakam would stand under the basket and double Mobley while completely ignoring Okoro at the 3 point line.
While I agree with you 100%, I am more pissed off when he passed on the open shot than when he takes and misses the open shot. He needs to shoot himself into a comfort zone, and a "schedule loss" is exactly where the best coaches let the young guys get some burn.
