TPA and RPM hate him! They make him as one of the worst players in the league on both ends.

This is a disgrace! (by the TPA and RPM creators obviously)

Ive said this a few times, it's probably going to take him midseason or the end of the season to get better offensively...

I don't understand, why anyone expect him to come out shooting when he likes to pick his spots...He's not a natural shooter like Garland and Windler.

He may get better by the end of the year, but it is going to take him multiple years before he develops fully as an offensive player.

We can afford the patience because of his defense and BBIQ, though.

Trying to accept the fact that Okoro is a multi-year project on offense. He’s so raw. Any buckets at this point should be considered a victory.

Unfortunately, I think we’ve been spoiled with LeBron and Kyrie’s ability to contribute day one on offense...

We’re also talking about a one-year collegiate player who got drafted during an irregular draft process with little to no training camp..

Let’s give this an off-season, or two, and give the Cavs development staff and Okoro character/work ethic its due, and see where we are at..

Okoro is playing the role he’s asked adequately, and right now I think that’s sufficient given the circumstances..

Right. I think as far as the kind of players that shift the fortunes of your franchise are concerned, it's a BOOM or BUST industry.
I thought Kawhi was a great pick for the Pacers, even more when the Spurs traded for him. But I didn't see him becoming one of the top stars in the current NBA, esp. away from the Spurs system.

Not saying that this is the future for Okoro. I like him on THIS team for a number of reasons, but he is basically rarely utilized on offense.

Great defender but cavs play handicapped offensively when he plays. For a guard-sized player he cant dribble and as a forward he lacks length to finish inside. Such a weird combination.

33 mins.

4 pts on 2/4 shooting.
1 rebound, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block, 3 TOs
+14 +/-

I didn't watch the game, so I can't tell, but was it his defense that gave him the highest +/- on the team last night or was that just one of those shoulder shrug things?

people have to realize: he doesn't look for his shot, like AT ALL. If you close out he's looking to drive and dish, if you close out and cut the drive he's looking to rotate it. He makes the right basketball play like 90% of the time, which JB rewards with more minutes. Eventually teams will see if they can outright ignore his jumper, then he's going to have to take those, and if he can hit them at a reasonable rate than all the better. I'm waiting for the game where a team says: screw that kid, we are shrinking the floor and he's beating us.

I'm no expert but to my eye he was playing elite defense most of the night.

Sexton heavy minutes as a Rook. Garland led rookies in minutes. Now Okoro is.

Is this part of the development strategy. Throw these guys to the wolves? Seems like it is working.

Wish they would try this same strategy with Windler!

Okoro is definitely a player. I was excited about the pick, and I'm excited to watch his development. We knew he was raw offensively when we drafted him, but I think he's exceeded expectations already defensively, and has shown flashes offensively. Tends to make a lot of winning plays that don't show up in the box score. Glad to have him as part of our future.

I'm pretty sure Garland and Sexton were both in around the same spot as rookies as well?
