Isaiah Hartenstein: wowing people in Vegas

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Three years, $20 million would be my final offer.

Chris Fedor: FA Isaiah Hartenstein, who finished season with #Cavs after being acquired in JaVale McGee trade, held a workout for teams in Vegas on Friday, a source said. Cavs had a rep on hand. As I’ve written, the door remains open for a return. But seems Cavs are still prioritizing wing
Free Agency, Isaiah Hartenstein, Cleveland Cavaliers

Just sign him- 4-5million a year seems fair to me.
Sounds like he's not ready to go to Europe just yet. Still think it would be in his best interest to go over there for a couple years and get playing time.

that sounds like a lot. I did like what he brought last year, especially his passing. He, Allen and Mobley would be quite a trio of big men passers on one team. Injuries happen as well. Would like to see the 20 mil closer to 16. Will be interesting to see what he gets offered

I'd start with 3 years 9M lol

I believe we only have Early Bird rights on him, which limits the size of the contract we can offer him without cutting into the MLE.

Personally, I wouldn’t cut into the MLE to bring him back.

Do you know what that offer is? He was only making like 1.5M.

I wonder if he has turned down similar offers and is looking for 5M or more.

This guy will be a 4th or 5th big. Not worth blowing our load.

All "bigs" are not created equal. Even Allen had a hard time with some of the more physical centers around the league, and nobody else on our roster has a chance with Jokic, Embiid, Vuke, Valanciunas, and Gobert. And if Allen goes down, we have nobody to match up with those guys. Hartenstein gives us a legit big body to eat minutes against the larger centers out there, and if Allen goes down, to start against them.

I looked it up just now, and based on what I read, we shouldn’t have to cut into our MLE to bring him back.

We can offer him up to 175% of his previous salary or 105% of the league average salary (whichever is larger).

Totally get what your saying, but playing time will be the issue with IH and the Cavs. Allen probably gets 28-30 min at C. Mobley probably plays around 6-8. Even if the Cavs never use Love, Nance, or Wade at C in a small lineup, that only leaves a max of 10-14 mpg at C. Yes, injuries could increase that number.

If you're Hartenstein and his agent, you're looking for an opportunity that will offer more playing time, and thus a better chance to earn a bigger contract the next time around, even if that means heading to Europe for a couple seasons to get consistent playing time.

If you're the Cavs, you're probably not willing to pay what Hartenstein wants because barring injuries he's just not going to play that much. It'd also be more valuable for the big rotation to add another shooter vs. IH. At this point I think it's far more likely the Cavs take a chance on a two-way big and look to acquire front court depth via trade.

Made 1.62 last year. Have his early bird, so using the early bird is 2.835 on a one year deal or 2 years and a bit over 6 mill. Not sure what he is being offered over seas is more, or if there is more money out there for him. But we could also use the MLE to sign him if we value him.

Did not know the piece about league average on early bird rights. So I read more, we have to give him a 2 year min contract using the early bird, and last year league average for early bird was a bit over 10 mill.

Basically we can sign Hartenstein to what ever we are willing to pay (because 10 mill is way over), but have to give him 2 years, not sure if both have to be guaranteed on our end, but we wont need to use any of the MLE to sign Hartenstein.

The recent title change is the equivalent to this:

Thread title A: Man murders horse wearing pyjamas

Thread title B: Man wearing pyjamas murders horse

And it turns out the guy won a game of HORSE while wearing pyjamas. Love clickbait as much as the next guy, but I’m still here for an explanation of how our recently acquired mediocre center died.
