Jacoby Brissett: Class Act

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Oh man this is just a brutal miss.

Patriots completely bust coverage Browns style and Brissett who isn't even being pressured and is looking that direction can't come off Cooper and just never sees it.

This just has to be a touchdown. Straight up.

To be fair, Schwartz almost certainly would have dropped it.

This is the type of stuff that provides hope in Deshaun and Stefanski being a great marriage. Baker didn't pick up stuff like this, and Brissett can't neither. Although Baker probably sees Schwartz right here, just follows up with a bad pass.

Even worse than missing Schwartz IMO is the fact that Brissett, despite being completely locked into Cooper the whole way, was still just a beat too late on his throw.

Had he planted and thrown at the top of his drop or even on his first stride in place (and yes, I admit that is not an easy throw with the underneath zone defender, but a good QB makes the throw), the pressure wouldn't have yet been in his face and forced an inaccurate ball.

Instead he waited just a half second too long and basically got hit as he threw.

It's really crazy to watch All-22 film and realize how things can change so much in a split second in the passing game.

If there are any bright spots this year I've been impressed with DPJ (who seems to have an above average ability to make the difficult catch) and with Njoku starting to hint that he can fulfil his potential. I can't wait to see what they and Amari can do with elite talent at the QB position.

Watson is not going to fix a lame defense.. you give up 28 in the second half, you lose..This is a joe woods problem

Which is true, but the Jacoby Brissett lead offense is playing way over their heads. That came down to earth yesterday and will continue to trend that way so its going to be both problems and we'll be talking Deshaun's potential with Stefanski more and more.

Narrator: he was not.

I think he’s played better than any of us reasonably expected. He got his ass handed to him by one of the greatest defensive minds of all time last weekend, but this was against the same team that had Jared Goff with shit running down his legs a week earlier, and the Lions were one of the league’s best offenses to that point. Belichick shut them out. You put Belichick against a limited QB and he will expose them. It’s what he does.

Yep, and the HC/OC on the opposing side can't even make the difference.

See: Rams vs Patriots Super Bowl.

Hot take: Brissett played fine today. Did what was asked of him and even connected on a few deep passes.
He played like a good backup.

The accuracy on deep shots was unexpectedly good.

Still struggles to connect on screens due to lack of athleticism.

Still doesn't see everything and is prone to turning the ball over.

He's a nice QB to have if you need to win a game or two. No backup in football is going to look good over an 11 game stretch.

I feel bad for him if he has to hear dipshits calling for Dobbs.

I've been saying it all year, but Jacoby doesn't even crack the top 5 on list of problems with this team. He has done mostly what has been asked of him and then some.
With all that said I would move on from him without anything to lose at this point.
